AI creating a society of skeptics?

I find myself muttering “that’s AI” many times during a day, and more and more each day. But I know how to escape it. I still know where to find what is real and have a feel for what is not. But what about the children growing up in this insanity? For example, lawmakers in Wisconsin feel the need to ban marriages of a human with an AI creation!
 

Ever wonder what would happen if you fell in love with Siri? Fortunately for you, Spike Jonze made a movie to help answer that question.

"Her" takes place in a near-future version of Earth where A.I. embedded in smartphones and computers completely change the cultural makeup of society ... or do they? The film follows the life of Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a writer who, after a split with his wife, develops a romantic relationship with the A.I. in his new phone, Samantha (Scarlett Johansson).

And that's kind of the whole plot.

The common tropes of science fiction suggest a story like "Her" must end badly, with some kind of dire warning being spelled out to the audience to not, under any circumstances, fall in love with your phone. And yet, Jonze's film refrains from that kind of dark ending. It's a movie more interested in questions than answers, focusing more on the possibilities of how technology could change the world than on whether those changes would be objectively good or bad.

Like "Interstellar," "Her" is a masterfully crafted film. Phoenix shines as he so often does, delivering infinite nuance and depth in the subtle mannerisms of the quiet Theodore, and there's an elegance to the film's aesthetic that makes it feel futuristic and realistic at the same time.

Can you imagine being a teacher these days... when the kids already think they know the answer because they read an AI report... and won't listen to the teacher...
 
I've had the feeling for a long time that when I call a company for help with their product, or to tell them that something is not working properly, I am actually talking to an AI entity. Either that, or their staff is instructed to answer as if they were AI "things." Example:

Me: Your music device doesn't seem to be working properly.

Voice on phone, very mechanically: I - am - sorry - to - hear- you - are - having - a - problem.

Me: Thank you. My problem is.... (whatever),

Voice on phone: I - am - sorry - to - hear- you - are - having - a - problem. Have you checked the (so-and-so) indicator?

And so on. The voice usually has a foreign accent, so maybe that's why it sounds so mechanical. But I still wonder.

Now that you mention this, I wonder if AI was 'responsible' for the replies I received from various companies recently (by email), because my actual questions were not addressed..

When that happens to me, I say very firmly, Let me speak to a human. And it works!
 
I often see AI made videos on Facebook. A few years ago I probably would have believed they were real. But now in the age of AI I am much more skeptical. I really doubt a baby with a pacifier and a dog could dance as smoothly as adults 😂
 
I have also seen countless videos of dogs saving babies in dangerous situations. They look very real. If I had not seen them so many times, I probably would have believed they were real.

I was thinking about having some AI-construct create a life for me where an AI me is
married to an AI generated wife and then have it live that life for me while I go on living
this life that I've been living free of AI thingies and whatnot.

Perhaps, I'll let it/them contact me on FB every now and then... maybe on holidays they
can send me AI generated pictures of the "family" from wherever they "live". And when
they tell me how well they're all doing, maybe I'll try hitting 'em up for some cash because
"Times are hard for us bio-organisms out here..."

But as for the real-life youth of today... I am seriously concerned that despite many who claim
that there's no need to overreact... I just disagree. There are a lot of immoral and amoral people
working in AI-related industries that are out for making money or whatever any way that they
can and program their AI driven creation to think just like they do.
