Almost Got Ripped Off at Taco Bell--

I went through the drive through. I ordered 3 items totaling 9.18. I got around the side to the pay window. I paid and shortly after she handed me a bag. I first thought the bag awfully light for what I ordered. I looked inside and there was one item--an order of nachos which I hadn't ordered and that was it. I sat there and motioned to the girl. I told her Where is my nachos bell grande? She rolled her eyes and said wait a minute. Then I handed her back the small bag and told her it's not mine.

I waited a few minutes and she gave me a much heavier bag and it contained all I ordered. Plus, the 2 cinna- balls I ordered were just thrown in the bag loose and the little paper thingy it was supposed to be in was in there unopened and nothing in it.

I bet they had wished I had taken off and said nothing. I didn't though. I always check my bag when I go there because the last 2 times I've been there it's been a problem.

I hardly ever go there and the last time there was a problem was last Spring.

That episode has taken away my desire to go back there.

@Ruthanne I had the same problem with Chinese takeout. I placed the order over the phone and hubby picked it up. I was missing egg rolls. I sent the hubby back which didn't make him happy. Next time I will give him the list of what I ordered so he can check it right in front of them.
I also have to remember to ask if we get rice with our order.
We always did but when I didn't get rice I called and they said because of Covid they couldn't get rice.
Some of these shortages are probably real but in some cases I think they use it as an excuse to save money.

Yes, we have to check orders we order from everyone now. It's hard to believe they couldn't get rice. I'm in Ohio but in late July I had Chinese take out and it had rice with it.

Ruthanne, like the rest of us, does not have the time or the desire to reprimand the employee-: 'Look if you want them to pay you
keep the customers happy, I am a customer, I'm not happy...'
This would result in the employee giving you another eye roll:rolleyes:
You go to these joints to order food, not argue with an employee-Jeez

Ruth n Jersey received three eye rolls by telephone:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Burger joints have a pay window, you pay, then go to pickup window. That's not right
once they have the money your stuck.

The drive thru is a "crap shoot" since you can't see them assemble your order, same as like with phone order pick up. Most of the time when they make a mistake I get shorted, although one time they gave me someone else's order that had more than mine.

Haha. There really was no argument there though. I think the eye roll was really for the employee making the food. :)

It's a pain to do, but I often check my order before leaving a restaurant. So many times there's a mistake, seems nobody cares about good customer service anymore. The workers probably get treated poorly and paid poorly, so their heart isn't in it. Such a shame.

We sometimes order delivery from a good Chinese restaurant usually enough for at least two days of meals. Been going there for decades, good food, good service, good delivery. We never check that big bag when they bring it, it's always been exactly what we ordered and well packed.

If you are eating at Taco Bell you are getting ripped off no matter what! (J/K I have the craving for a Chalupa every now and then on a "cheat" day!)

Around here, the fast food "drive throughs" always seem to have a long line...and the workers are racing to keep up. The few times we stop at these places, we look for one that allows indoor ordering, and we go inside to order/receive the order...which allows us to verify that the order is correct.

This one wasn't very busy, I was in and out in no time.

That's right, some of them don't care about customer service and they really should at least put the right thing in the bag as I'm paying for it. At least most of the other fast food places around here put the right stuff in the bag. This is a constant issue with this Taco Bell. If their heart isn't in it or they are treated poorly maybe they should find employment elsewhere instead of taking it out on the customers by shorting them.

I posted in another thread about the number of restaurant workers who haven't returned after Covid. I stood in a Schlotzky's forever with no one coming to take my order. I left.

So many restaurants have Help Wanted signs in their windows. And I suspect Taco Bell is getting hit by this as well. Fast food chains pay so little that I'm sure their employees haven't returned and they are hiring new, inexperienced workers. The only chain that doesn't seem to be affected is Chick-Fil-A. I like to say that if the management of Chick-Fil-A ran the government we would be in a much better place.

I can't say how much they are getting paid at Taco Bell but these are the same workers that they had last year, too. I don't even know what minimum wage is now. I know it's not enough that's for sure.

When I visit fast food stores and they fluff the order I write to head office.
Simply to let them know that their brand name is being down graded by inattentive, uninterested staff.
They need to be told.
