Sobering isn't it? We are becoming more vulnerable because of total reliance on technology and aging infrastructure for our existence these days. The higher up the tech chain the society, the denser it gets and the less adaptable it becomes. 'Civilization' is a two edged sword.

... 'the big one' doesn't bear thinking about!
 
I'm sure you'll find 'the science' is working on building a computer modelling scenario 'proving' that climate change ensures that some form of disaster is "coming to a theatre near you!".
You may have to settle for less than an earthquake but you can bet your pizza money on there being something they can dream up for ya.

bugger, my website is hosted in california somewhere, when the fukushima quake hit it killed my website for months. I live in australia. so yeah, if a butterfly flaps its wings and causes an earthquake somewhere...just like the global GFC started with a few dodgy low doc loans to some losers in the USA.
 
We could get by very well without Los Angeles or even all of California. The big worry these days is when the Yellowstone volcano erupts.

Send your money to me (not to Al Gore) and I'll do what I can to stop it.

Have you noticed lately how Al Gore stopped global warming? All it took was enough idiots (oops I mean people) to send him money.

If I get as much money as he did I can stop Yellowstone from erupting.

I'm with Larry, Yellowstone is the biggest worry we have, if we want to worry about something.

Here in Washington State, we can take our pick of things to be paranoid about, we have the Fukushima radiation hitting was, threats of earthquakes on the West Coast and we have Mt. St. Helens still active and Mt. Doom, I mean Mt Rainier, right outside our window and it is still an active volcano. scared0016.gif

Emigrate to OZ. We are in the middle of a big tectonic plate and are almost completely free of earthquakes and volcanoes.
