American Accents..

96% West.
Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

I'm from northwestern Pa. but have lived in Ca. over 40 years.
 
I think that more & more regional accents are getting "homogenized" by shifts in employment opportunities and housing costs, as well as exposure to mass media broadcasting.

My sister swears she has no accent. My flat Midwest accent is called a very strong American accent by people in the UK. And some even say it's cool which does not compute to me!
