American airstrikes on Venezuela, with Chinooks possibly flying in US military personnel.

This is partly why the US will "control" Venezuela until they establish a new gov't. Far more pressing is that the CCP, Putin, and probably Iraq would love to inject their influence.
Facts don't really matter when there are people so anti-government that they don't bother thinking ahead. It boggles. If the US government did something, by darn, it was bad in their eyes and they don't take a single moment to ponder what the alternative could lead to. It's infuriating around social media but finally more and more are starting to understand, I've noticed. It's like "sheesh, put your thinking cap on and forget the knee jerk reactions."

There's plenty of oil around
It has been suggested that this is about keeping Venezuela from increasing the supply of oil to the point of reducing the price to below $USD 60 per barrel.
It has been further suggested that this could result in a war leading to a state of emergency and the cancellation of mid term elections.

Venezuelan oil fields were under-producing and the oil was overpriced.

Cancel who's mid-term elections? War...where?

This is great news for the majority of the citizens. I was in Venezuela in 1990 when Perez was the President. It wasn’t a very good country with political turmoil, rising unemployment and a lot of poverty. (a.k.a. Hookers. It is kind of controlled.)

I had 8 $5 bills in my money clip, which I gave to women walking with a child. They were very appreciative. I saw 1 woman run into a grocery store. I was glad at least some of the money was well spent.

The only reason I had the bills was because I was told by my associates that $5 u.s. bills were accepted in Venezuela stores or most anywhere. I took $400 in $5 bills. You would have thought I was in Italy carrying so much paper money. It was a good trip, but for having my hotel room ransacked twice. If you ever go to S.A. keep your money, wallet and passport on you at all times, but not in your pockets. I kept mine in my drawers and not my dresser drawers either. I put them in a clear plastic zipper bag and shoved the bag down my backside. I was a Marine. We were taught to “adapt and overcome” even though that slogan wasn’t known when I was in the service.

citing one reason only for this event is imo - oversimplifying - this is about ALL the other reasons cited above also - life is never too simple!

I don't have an issue with this thread personally. But isn't this a political issue more or less?

Or just Democrat vs Republican falls under the not allowed category?

I hope this steers clear of politics. It has been bipartisan with the prior USA administration increasing the Bounty on Maduro to $25 Million before they left, for a known illegitimate president, narco terrorist, and absolutely evil individual.

From an outsider's view this has nothing to do with Democrats or Republicans, it's about what the USA as a nation is doing.
It could be viewed as international politics and/or current affairs.

Go on, hazard a guess...
The US Constitution requires that elections take place, and no federal official can cancel them, so you're not talking about ours. But you can't mean Venezuela's, either...theirs are predetermined, so they're irrelevant. But it'd be awesome if they get to see the return of free elections sometime this year. And I think it's possible.

But this just in: On Cuba's orders, Columbia is posting tanks and military personnel at its border with Venezuela.
Wow, and US military helicopters and personnel carriers went to Britain, then US and British military headed toward the Middle-East. I'm guessing, maybe they plan to assist the Iranian people. Some say Iran's Ayatolla already beat feet to Moscow.

Monday morning musings... I wonder if the mindset of detractors who are thinking Maduro should have been allowed to continue "business as usual" is the exact reason the world is in the sorry shape it's in? The indictment (in place for years) is for "narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of machine guns and destructive devices and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices."

That's a serious question, by the way. Has "turn your head the other way and don't look" been the reason or part of the reason those same detractors whine about the state of the world? Has turning a blind eye EVER resulted in a good outcome?
