Annual Events

Except for Thanksgiving, I guess there isn't one. I would like to go to the annual Turkey Testicle Festival in June but so far I haven't been able to get my husband to go. And I'm not joking that is a REAL festival they have here in these mountains I live in.

Shame for you to miss out Linda, could you not go with friends ?

There are none I don’t look forward to, I enjoy birthdays, Easter, Christmas

The only holiday I don't care for is Christmas. My parents birthdays were 5 days apart in Dec,some yrs I can get thru the holiday without being too sad
In my opinion its been wrecked by 'Black Friday' and greedy companies who only care about 'CHA CHING' Sue

I don't look forward to the annual flu shot that will be coming up soon. It's not the vaccine itself, I take it because I don't like being sick. However, not all shot givers are created equal. There are those who are gentle, manage to administer the vaccine quickly and painlessly. I love those people. Then there are those who act like they a harpooning a whale instead of giving an injection...and they look at you like they want you to suffer.

Well, after my laser cataract surgery next month, my wife kids with me about having to do some things that I won't be able to do for awhile. Depending on how I feel, I may not be able to sleep in the bed for awhile. I'll be in the recliner, like I was for two rotator cuff surgeries. It is a MUST that I take care of the eye that the surgery was done on...…….protect it! Won't be able to bend over, past my waist and absolutely no heavy lifting.

Due to the surgery being done on both eyes, within a 2-week period, we probably won't have much, if any, of a Halloween. No inside or outside decorating and no costumes to greet kids in on Halloween night.

Wife will be having a colonoscopy coming up, then later me.

Getting our Senior Double Dose Flu Shot this week. Want that done before my laser surgery.

Thanksgiving and Christmas, that we both love...…...will have to wait and see. I should be ok to put up outside and inside Christmas dĆ©cor for our last Christmas living here. The 7 1/2 foot artificial tree will go to the Goodwill, as well as some inside and outside Christmas dĆ©cor.

And, continuing to get things sorted out and packed for our move back to Colorado.

So, as far as "events" go, we definitely have them lined up.

Annual commemorations of 9/11 (a personal event for me - I avoid all the media coverage, but the anniversary still comes around) -- get through it every year with tissues and touch-up makeup. Sigh.

I hate New Year's Eve. It's gets like a war zone here. I could handle it okay if it wasn't for pets and birds, etc. It's horrible. And my Pom gets so afraid and trembly, even when he's with me on the bed. I don't like giving him tranquilizers because at only 7 pounds even the lowest dose has him wobbly and scary about how it might affect him. I have, though, got another kind of calming pills from the vet that you give them a little at a time the week before. I'm going to try that.

Also, those with respiratory problems have a really hard time with it. I used to think of New Year's Eve as a symbol of a start to have a fresh new beginning. But for sometime now I think of it as something just to get through. Really spoils things.

I can't stand going out in the crowd to watch fireworks, and if the wind is blowing my way, the glands in my throat swell up to golf ball size from the sulfur. We rent hotel rooms, some years, and that's great for watching, if you have the right view. I also can't stand how the tv networks can't seem to decide how to handle the various time zones with their coverage. Some years it's maddening, as they show previous hours and then switch to local and back and forth and - - - - -

I used to dread any holiday with fireworks. Our little dog was so frightened by the noise, but we lost him last year so now I don't care about it. It is annoying that the fireworks often start a week before the "event" and go on for days afterwards.

I used to luv attending the Fourth celebrations with fireworks but dont anymore cuz same here....our dogs (two deceased, one beagle mix now)
shake something awful for the whole month of July and most of August with the inconsiderate neighbors who set em off constantly....wish they would ban those things for the average Joe not to have access to....I know, there's too much money to be made if they did :(

#1 is Christmas. I've never liked Christmas
#2 is Father's Day, I don't like to go out and have people just assume that I was a father
#3 is Veteran's Day, I really don't like this new thing, "thank you for your service".
Now Mother's Day doesn't bother me that much because I've been called a 'mother______' many times. LOL!

Any event that involves fireworks. My little dog wants the 'boss' of the household whenever there's loud bangs and tries to climb as high as possible. Her favourite position is wrapped around his head she must feel safer there .

ā€˜Testicle festivals’...? my mouth is watering too, but not in a good way...
