Good perspective there... I remember when we had company (aunts, uncles, etc), us kids were told to be polite and visit for awhile, then go outside. :D Now the younger set is there, but on their phones, ipods, etc. Guess things haven't changed all that much, after all.

The freeking Ipods, Ipads an I paid, the idiots are hipnotised by and addicted on the little screens.
They are bumping into each other, into light posts and falling into fountains, not to mention, getting hit by cars.

True...and walking down the street side-by-side, communicating....on their phones. Gotta wonder what would happen if it all shut down suddenly. Would anyone start speaking?? :p

Kids can't communicate without their Ipads or phones, it is very sad to see people out at restaurants and no-one is talking they are all on their friggin phones :wtf:is wrong with them all, it's not only teenagers it's adults as well

Ah the newspaper, we didn't get the newspaper daily, at least I don't remember that, but on Saturdays they had the Sunday edition out early with all the supplements and the color funny paper (the comics)! I always remember my dad bringing that home and we'd read the funny paper together. Life was good!

Same memories here, I usually read the funnies and the colored section as a kid. We never got the newspaper delivered though when I was a child. We get daily delivery now, hubby likes to read the paper with his morning coffee. Here's my boy fetching us the paper from the driveway...

What I don't understand is all of the people who are walking for leisure, and have a cell phone stuck in their ear.:playful:

I know what you mean. I go out walking in nature almost every day, and like to hear the sound of the birds, etc. around me. I see a lot of people at the dog park yacking on their cell phoned, or with their heads down texting the whole time...probably completely spacing out the fact that they even have a dog with them. Even if I'm walking in the city, I want to be aware and hear the things around me, and watch out for traffic, etc.

SB..That picture of Hans with the paper is precious..

I remember as a kid looking forward to the Sunday paper. I went for the funnies, then the question section on the inside front cover of the Parade magazine, then read the rest of the magazine, then off to the livestock section of the want ads to look for horses for sale and dream.

Funny you mention that ... on my walk to the store this morning I briefly considered buying the Sunday papers (we have two main ones here).

Then I thought ... "Why?"

Everything that's in them can be gotten on the 'Net, and I can adjust the font size to fit my poor eyesight. There's nothing to throw away, no recycling to worry about, no ink on my hands, no hundreds of inserts for garbage I'll never buy ...

... and the new wave of comics are decidedly UN-funny.

Sad, in a way, because as you said I remember as a kid waiting with bated breath for the paper to be delivered and the big Sunday morning fights for the funnies. :D

Oh, and Silly Putty for the funnies when everyone was done reading them. :D

Oh yes...loved to copy the comics with Silly Putty, such simple fun in those days!

Will admit i am reading all the news etc online nowadays, and it does save me filling up the recycle bin

We're still on dial-up, so reading the paper would be an all day project. :p

I remember when i was on Dial up it drove me mad waiting for emails to load, it seemed forever, and like you didn't read the papers online but now i'm on broadband it's fantastic everything is so fast compared to dial up.

I didn't know dial up was still available in US. I was on it back in the 90's, sooooooo slow.
