Any recent earthquakes where you live?

When I was a kid we lived in an old wood frame house with a high ceiling. Once during a good shake I looked up and I could see the whole house flexing. Didn't do any damage though.

We had a bump the other night from a quake centered near San Bernardino. It was a 4.1.

It’s in the back of my mind that it could happen here, though the possibilities are lower. I was in a science display centre that let you experience the feeling of a quake. No thanks.

I learnt something quite recently, if you are in the midst of an earthquake and you live in a two storey house make sure that you keep a pair of shoes under your bed. if possible you will have to get downstairs. I thought that this was good advice.
I cannot remember the year but we had quite a large quake. I was just leaving the rec centre and I watched the glass showcase jump right off the floor, I was terrified and just ran. When I got home, just a few pictures had fallen off the wall. My husband on the other hand was driving out from town and he saw people rushing out of the buildings and realized what was happening but he was driving and did not feel a thing.

I thought about you and my other friend in Cali when I heard about that quake. I'm glad you didn't experience any damage Bob. We haven't gotten any earthquakes where I live but there are towns in Jersey that have experienced very minor ones.

Thanks Debodun for that info- because maybe 25-30 years ago we had a slight earthquake where I live ( Southern Tier NY), and it seemed to shake my whole house.

Yesterday Morning we had a fairly unusual sight- the sun was coming up but there was a very large low dark snow cloud over head and it looked like the movie "Independence Day".o_O It was so thick and dark that I could not get a satelitte signal for my PC for almost 3 hours. Then we had a very fast moving snow squall, but no snow predicted for today.

Bob, will you and your property be alright with all this wet weather Cali is having? Did any of it affect you already? I sure hope not !

No. But I'm from Santa Cruz. Used to get them there. I was not living in SC when the Loma Prieta quake happened.

I'm in the north state.
