Anyone done Keto diet?

If you have, did you ever take off for a single meal within the first 3-4 weeks of being on the diet? In other words, if you were invited to a special family dinner at an Italian restaurant, would you decline?
I've not ever done keto - but on a diet of any sort or not, I would never turn down a family gathering on account of that - would find a way around it.

No, I wouldn't decline; I'd order what I could from the menu, or perhaps you could ask for some type of broiled fish or chicken and steamed veggies on the side. It's nothing complicated, so they should be able to accommodate you. Go and have a lovely dinner with your family. :)

Thanks for the comments…. I had invited my brother (73) and sister-in-law (64) to join my son and his spouse for my son’s upcoming 42nd birthday. My sister-in-law said they have to decline as there’s nothing on the menu they can eat while on their Keto diet. I found her reply to be rude. I noticed on the menu there is at least chicken breast on the side and caesar salad and I’m sure those are ok for the diet. Oh well, such is life. Just my son, his spouse and I will go.

I live the keto life and have for several years. I have gone off it for a meal and then go right back on it. Just don't let that one meal lead to going off it for good which is what many people do. I don't think it is a restrictive diet at all. In fact, just the opposite.

I see that as honest, not rude.
Of couse, I don't know their situation with keto. If they are struggling, they shouldn't go where temptation lies.

Since it is your son's birthday, he gets to pick. If his choice doesn't work for them... oh well indeed.
If your son really wants their company, he can ask if there is a restaurant that would work better for them.

I wouldn’t be too concerned.

IMO it was a mistake on her part to offer a detailed excuse when a simple no thank you or we have other plans would have been sufficient.

When it comes to family, don’t keep score just keep offering. When it comes to friends, stop offering. 😉🤭😂
