Anyone know what language this is and what it means?

I'd like to see it fade away with the times, Grahamg.
Sorry I can't agree with the state interfering further in peoples private lives, so very far has it gone already, and needs rolling back a bit in my view, and our former prime minister Tony Blair said he'd smacked his child, (whilst rightly refusing to reveal much else about his own private life).

Sometimes progress isn't always heading in one direction, or the same direction, forcing everyone to accept one view of parenting, especially when in truth psychological means of controlling a child can be far more pervasive, and damaging I'd say, than the very mild smacking permitted in most of the UK now.

I don't support it either, but I like to believe that refreshed polices and laws are a good thing when it comes to the well-being of children.

I think it is Hawaiian. I have watched too much Hawaii Five-O and looked at the episode titled in Hawaiian, lol

It could be alien. I would think that by now, artifacts from the crash in New Mexico in 1947 would be popping up in gift shops around the country by now. ;)

Apologies for a mini hijacking of this thread, but I would like to make a strong statement here.

Mild smacking? People in my profession don’t believe such a thing exists, even if it did, how would u enforce it, cameras in every household which harbours children? We believe hitting children is wrong, a form of abuse, instilling fear, resentment, and a belief that violence gets you what you want if you are big and strong enough. As for psychological means of controlling children being worse, spanking is overtly psychological. Anything which attempts to modify behaviour is. If it takes governmental interference to protect children from physical violence in any form, bring it on....

Because you are a professional of some kind does not make you right all, (if you're suggesting you are, just need to check, as I come across those speaking for other's so must be careful not to make the same mistake). Our UK government currently disagrees with you, and a mild smack they say is one that does not leave a mark, and they dont seem concerned about the policing of such a policy, and if our former prime minister saying he did it is not good enough for you, and all kinds of good people on this forum have said they've administered a smack, (as have I when I felt my child was putting herself in danger).

Other than that lets carry on with the thread and happily ignore one another again, (good idea?).
