A few years back I was thinking about moving to Koh Samui Island, Thailand. I had tickets and a place to stay. Then Covid hit and that changed my plans. I feel like I already know that island as I have walked all over it using Google Earth street view.

No, there was a time in life that I wanted to, mostly for the adventure. For a lot of reasons it never happened.
Now I have grown adjusted to and like life here. Think I will stay.

I often regret not moving when I was young. Britain (especially England) has become the cesspit of the world and hardly worth living in. Not sure where I would have gone - somewhere in Europe, but they mostly made a bigger mess of handling Covid than the UK.

I already have a home in another country.. Southern Spain... I lived there for 10 years , I bought it 20 years ago , now it's going to be sold..
I would never buy in another country where the first language is not English, the red tape and bureaucracy is a nightmare trying to deal with officialdom.. local councils and govt etc.. when the indigenous language is not your own...
Too late now, but I would love to move to NZ or Australia...

I wanted to retire to Tuscany but brexit scuppered that idea.
I am so sorry to hear that you will lose that home. I have read how much you love that place. Is it due to your separation? Would you be able to travel there to enjoy it one last time?

yes it's due to the upcoming Divorce... and yes I'll be going out there before it gets sold. I would have gone already, but the chaos at British airports has put me off.. so it'll have to wait for a little while yet.
I am so sorry. I know you are going through such a difficult time. Losing a home you love makes a bad situation even worse. l will pray you will be able to get there before you have to let it go. I hope your home in the UK is safe, that you will be able to keep it. It looks like paradise to me.

Thank God, it would be too much for me to bear if I lost that due to a situation caused by my partner. As hard as this time is, you still will have your home that you love, that gives you such joy.
My situation was different but I would have lost my mind if I lost my home, safe haven. It may take a long time to recover from the emotional turmoil but just being there will give you great comfort!
