Anything Scottish, just for fun!

My favorite philosophical author, Iain McGilchrist, lives in a house like this one on the Isle of Skye, near Talisker Bay. He has a nice bit of garden with his too but I don't know if this one I found on the internet is of his or not.

these houses are indiginous throughout the uk... we have them here where I live in the south of England, they're very common in the Islands where they have an acre or 2 of land... but all these types of houses have gardens wherever they're situated in the UK

You have the right house..that's Iain's house... he used to live here in the South...

My family name is common in the border counties, and would appear to originate from the north of England. Not surprising as the border was very 'fluid' for centuries.

The Scottish expression ''haud yer wheesht'' was been mentioned, and there is a similar expression in a traditional English song from Northumberland whose chorus goes,
Whisht! Lads, haad yor gobs,

An Aa’ll tell ye’s aall an aaful story

Whisht! Lads, haad yor gobs,

An’ Aa’ll tell ye ‘boot the worm.

Thanks HD, that's him alright. The house sure looks bigger from this side than from the other angle.
