Are covid jabs being given 3 monthly?

A lady I know aged 82, says she has been told at her GPs that she must have jabs every 3 months. She had one a couple of weeks ago and has felt so unwell that she really doesn't want any more but is too afraid to say no.
Why are elderly people being given so many?
I won't have any more myself, I decided that a couple of years ago after feeling really poorly after one.

this is not true... elderly people are not given any more than anyone else.. and I think she must have misunderstood her doctor... please tell her she does not need Covid vaccinations every 3 months.. at all.. and she must say No to this... or see another doctor...
 
From my records of having Pfizer vaccine:
03/09/21 then 03/26/21 (2 shots were required 3 weeks apart):
then:
06/30/21 and another 3 weeks later (they were still recommending 2 shots for Pfizer)
10/20/21 - a booster (nothing was said about 2 shots, just get a booster)
09/28/22 - another booster
10/05/23 - last booster

I see the doctor twice yearly. Since 2023, he hasn't spoken to me about getting anymore boosters. I plan to ask him on my next visit later this month.

Studies show that vaccine protection gradually wanes until it's ineffective in about 3 months.

Maybe she has immune problems or is on some medication that suppresses immunity?

I hope she didn't misunderstand her doctor, my doctor told me that I have to WAIT at least 3 months between boosters, could she have gotten confused and thought it was an instruction to get a new booster every 3 months?

If she has a friend or relative she feels comfortable with, perhaps they could have a conference call with an advice nurse to discuss the reasons, or she could take her friend/relative with her to her next doctor appointment. (Though I hope the friend is more competent than I was when my mom was disappointed with her doctor and took me with her to an appointment and I had no clue what to ask or push back on).
 
@Rose65 I thought the Covid jabs were 6 months apart but, nevertheless, it's a personal choice not mandatory, although a doctor may advise someone that they should. I know quite a few people who have decided not to have any more Covid jabs.

Some of our friends in the seniors' pub group have had the Spring 2025 vaccine, it is being offered to people who are 75 or will be 75 by 17th June.

She had one recently and feels really unwell. I agree she may have got confused about having one every 3 months, that sounds excessive.

You're telling ME ?.... we who suffered through it..like a damn silent war... we will never forgive our goverment for what they did to US... how we were banned from seeing loved ones in hopsitals and nursring homes, who died lonely frightened deaths

US..who were locked into our own areas only allowed to walk our dogs in the imediate area lest we get arrested..

Us.. who were now even allowed to sit on a public bench in the park, lest we face the law..

Us.. who had to stand in pouring rain, in long queues..outside of supermarkets for hours while they onlly allowed in 2 people at a time...

....only to find nothing on the shelves....

Us ... who when allowed to visit a park were being chased down by the Police to ensure we hadn't travelled more than 5 miles from home ?

Us who who had the army brought in to control our movement.. In Spain people were arrested who didn't have permission to be out of their area , like a doctors appointment...

Us.. who had no stores open except supermarkets...

Us who couldn't get cars repaired...


Us when non food stores were allowed to open again still had to Queue..like prisoners for food...

Us who suffered the breakdown of marriages, and lost relatives , to the disease..

Us who couldn't get a hospital appointment for months.. ... Us who died of illnesses which couldn't be addressed because of the fear of covid by the medical staff

Canada was like that. Our kids told us of the tyranny...Thankfully we were in eastern Europe and they were normal where we were. 1-6 week lockdown, like everyone in the world, but then the people said no more, then never again. No restrictions of capacity or friends or anything at home or restaurants. Mask recommended but not forced. Gyms stayed open with no restrictions or masks. Grocery stores had no restrictions or rules per say. Essentially what you say was plastic shields and masks. But not forced.
I would say after the 6 weeks it was just below what you would call normal.

But I did see some places that were literally a concentration camp type lifestyle. Banning just about everything, rat finks telling on people if there were too many people in your house, people freaking out if you did not wear a mask, and so on.

To all those that dealt with that...dam well deserve an apology!

Bolded...that was US in the UK .... and further in Spain worse where my daughter lived and worked.. saving animals lives, terrified to go out down the mountain to the road where there was blockades in some places of the Army checking if they had permission to be out... and threatening arrest if they were just going for some food... and not a doctor appointment .. or work

People dying stuck in remote areas where they couldn't get anywhere for food... and relatives not allowed to visit..

We need more than an apology...

Less effective.

My GP tries to time the boosters to have maximum efficacy at the likely peak of the Covid/influenza season. It's all a bit of a gamble. I didn't have one at all last year but will have a booster this year as soon as the shots become available for the over 65s.

I can have it at the GP's or at the pharmacy. Free of cost.
 
My 6 month checkup with my doc was last week. Had my pneumonia shot, but she said to wait till the fall for my next Covid and flu boosters and that once a year was good.

This was in response to me questioning her about getting a booster now because my shots schedule went to hell after Devin died and I didnā€™t keep up with anything. šŸ˜¢

I got my shingles vaccines back in late 2022 after I got shingles earlier that year, and it was some of the worst pain Iā€™ve ever experienced. The shots made me feel like crap for a couple days, but still far better than getting shingles again!

I'm not complaining, merely saying that it was the only vaccination that caused us side effects.

Hollydolly, your Covid experience was a lot worse than ours. Shopping was interesting. Yes, you insignificant 'little Hitlers' saying only one family member, one at a time, follow the Yellow brick road etc... however, what happened was that people would enter separately and meet up inside. Fancy meeting you here. Plenty of old folk standing chatting in the aisles. We only saw the police once and they were buying sandwiches in ASDA.

Living as we do 'in the sticks', we had to go to town for shopping and there were various different routes we could take. Shopping became a 'leisure' activity. There was a bakery beside the shop in the next village, and we could get flour, yeast etc.. there.

When our daughter came legally to visit, she could fly without restriction and we could collected her at the airport.

Of course, we observed minimum distances, good hygiene etc.., but the whole thing was more of a great inconvenience. I do sympathise with those who did not have a big garden and the great outdoors to visit and I do believe that the UK 'Lockdown' was a huge mistake that caused much more harm than good.

I also live ''in the sticks''.. but our experience was a great deal different than yours... here......I forgot to mention aside from all the above, all the pubs and restaurants were closed for weeks ... and hundreds of Publlicans went out of business due to it...making them not only losing their business but their homes as well , and owing the breweries Ā£Ā£Ā£Ā£'s

and Wales was even worse with lockdown rules from what I understand, they certainly went on even longer than the rest of us

I don't know where your DD was flying from Capt... but this was Gatwick at the height of the pandemic...
