Are there movies you have seen many, many times and still love to watch?

I agree! IMO his acting isn't that great! This new movie, "Once upon a time in LA or Hollywood or whatever it was; what was the purpose of the scene on the roof where he took his shirt off? It had nothing to do with the movie. Just showing off his body?

That's a great list. I used to stay up late as a teenager watching old black and whites. For more modern stuff, my top two would be Harry And Tonto and Bladerunner. I just watched Idiocracy for the first time and I think I'll watch it again. It's a comedy and, though I don't usually watch comedies, ( I tend towards horror and thriller movies ) I found this one hilarious.
 
OK, I'm sure this will seem a little weird, but my go-to guaranteed depression lifter is a film from the 1970s called, The Electric Horseman.

The combination of a young Robert Redford, an absolutely gorgeous horse and a feel-good happy ending does it for me every time.
 
All world wide disaster movies. All of The Trilogy's of LOTR and HOBBIT, but those are newer. I like movies when people work together and save the world. Armageddon, Independence day, 2012, that genre. Also, The Great Escape and Wizard of OZ but the monkeys scared me until I was in the hospital giving birth to my son in 1983 and the movie was on. After birth, Flying monkeys seemed like nothing.
 
This thread concerns good movies, I want to discuss 'stinkers' for a moment, especially those that have an excellent cast:
Two decades ago Anthony Hopkins stated, 'I've made my reputation , now I just want to have fun in my work and make a few dollars.'
This statement was followed by the Hannibal movies
Today I watched 'The Wolfman' Anthony Hopkins and his son were both the wolf creature-a far stretch for Hopkins' fans.

Also, A Simple Plan with Billy Bob Thorton, when the plot got 'draggy' they would kill somebody, really disappointing.

Action movies with their car chases, stunts and killings lull audiences into 'who cares.'
Movies have become: Bam, Bam, Crash, Murder, Smash, Tear up, Destroy
Dialogue is only required to determine who to kill.

now let us continue the search for good movies. I don't recall Amistad being mentioned.
 
I like foreign film with unknown (to me) actors.
One favourite is "Ida", a Polish film about a young woman at a crossroad in life.

Ida (Polish: [ˈida]) is a 2013 drama film directed by Paweł Pawlikowski and written by Pawlikowski and Rebecca Lenkiewicz. Set in Poland in 1962, it follows a young woman on the verge of taking vows as a Catholic nun. Orphaned as an infant during the German occupation of World War II, she must meet her aunt, a former Communist state prosecutor and only surviving relative, who tells her that her parents were Jewish. The two women embark on a road trip into the Polish countryside to learn the fate of their family.

Sounds good. Last night I watched "7 Pounds" with Will Smith. Very touching.
