Are You A Side, Back or Stomach Sleeper?

When young used to sleep on my stomach (supposedly the worst position). Nowadays I usually fall asleep on my right side. Reason for that is that it prevents the stomach acids from eroding the esophagus. One guy I knew, the acid made a hole on the esophagus and he almost died from it. If you look at medical illustrations, the stomach slants down towards the right side and is higher on the left side. I do toss and turn a lot during the night, though.

Until age 48 I was a stomach sleeper.

I had to have neck fusion surgery due to severely herniated discs.

The Doctor told me to sleep on my side and not on my stomach. It was not hard to swap - as pain is a good motivator.

Been sleeping on my side ever since. Almost 10 years now.

I will say that for me - sleeping on my Left side reduces acid reflex and heart burn more than on my right side. Maybe thats just me....

I always start on my back, never my side and then sometime during the night I sleep on my left side. I cannot sleep on my right side. Just does not feel right or try to go to sleep on my left side. A lot of this has to do with the fact that I wear a CPAP mask.

When I'm asleep I could be standing on me 'ead for all I know, but if I had a partner, I'd sleep facing her.....:D

I always start out on my back & always wake up on my left side.
That used to be a problem; it always caused completely numb arms. But after getting a Tempur Pedic bed 18 years ago, that doesn't happen any more.

I sleep on my right side with a small pillow between my knees.
Same. And I had to sleep on my right side for the past several years until I had my gallbladder removed and bought one of those Purple mattresses. Now I can sleep on either side, or on my back, but I do keep a cushion between my knees, and one against my chest when sleeping on my side to keep my rib cage open. I feel like it's good for my lungs and heart.
