I will snore once in awhile if I fall asleep on my back, which is rare. I usually wake myself up right away. Some people say they actually sleep in separate bedrooms due to their spouse' snoring.

I knew a couple of people who said they had Sleep Apnea, where you stop breathing in your sleep. Does anyone here have problems like this? Do you have to use a CPAP machine to breathe at night? I think that would be so uncomfortable, and wonder if there's another way to deal with the problem.

Twenty years ago my husband used to snore so loud that visitors were always amazed at how you could hear him all over the house. He would get a catch in his throat, and stop breathing for a minute.
As you can imagine, I didn't get much sleep, and never very deeply, so I would shake him to make him start breathing again. I became so worried that I drug him to my doctor. He was told to sleep on his side, and to loose some weight.
He drop 40 pounds, and now sleeps on his side's.
He now has a very light snore sometimes, but not often.

Kudos to your hubby Ina for shedding the pounds, and taking care of the problem. I imagine that was very worrisome for you, I would be awake all night too, listening and watching like a mother hen.

I snore occasionally only if I am over-tired. Otherwise, my wife wins this contest between her and I hands down.

Sleep apnea is a normal function of the body when the CO2 levels get low in your blood you stop breathing until the level raises. Dog , cats, elephants all have sleep apnea but the doctors can not make money off of them. My cat snores and I will not buy a c-pap machine for him.

Sleeping on your back increases the chance of you snoring. That's when your mouth opens.

I sleep on my side so I don't snore or get sleep apnea.
