Are you addicted to your phone?

A friend said he wouldn't get an iPhone because he'd get addicted to it. Then I thought the very first thing I do when I wake- even before going to the B.R. is check my phone. When it's charging, and away from me, I miss it. My friend might be right about addiction.
Are you addicted to your phone?

After retiring I hardly ever used mine, and only very rarely took it out of the house.

But now my smart home devices rely on it for configuration and monitoring, my car wants it connected for software support and navigation. Medical, insurance, pharmacy, pension, banking, investment, Social Security/Medicare, and online shopping accounts require its use in two-factor authentication. Medical lab tests require texting unless you want to sit in their waiting rooms for an hour or more. The last 5 payphones around here were decommissioned in the past year.

Family began using texting for much communication, so the home phone hardly gets used. Friends have begun doing the same.

Even local retailers now offer discounts you can only get by using their "phone app."

None of these are really by choice.

It freaked me out when I got an email from my car, saying the battery was low.

I catch a lot of crap from people who call or text (I hate texting, btw) and then expect an immediate response. They seem surprised when I tell them I am not tethered to my phone 24/7, even leaving it on the countertop for days at a time not even thinking about it. Bottom line -- I don't care what they think. I will not be controlled by a gd device.

For those who can't function without a phone by their side, I'm sorry for you. Period. Maybe rethink your priorities.

I like my iPads. Better rural reception and screen. don’t do games, just
internet and stuff to talk about. Follow the weather and know great routs
to take for day trips and still great receptions. The constant s-pather of buy
a new phone 5G that doesn’t work all that well in rural areas gets old. The
Price for basically a lil easily breakable pocket pal gets old as well.

The iPod in a protective Military case and stand.

Remember the pay phones you never used cause the pages were torn
out of the Phonebook ? Those were the days, the freedom of being alive.

Think of all the things that could be accomplished if PodCasts were outlawed.
Videos and games shut off when you are moving. Where did common sense go?
Your shopping and their constant you know what I’m saying, you know what I’m
Saying, you know what I’m saying as they talk on their mouthpiece. Then the
constant taking pictures of bar codes.

I had a phone, required for my job, back before most people did not have phones. It was strictly for business...but I learned then to never use it for personal use. I retired over 9 years ago and I have not had a phone and I never will.

My wife has one, and I dislike the fact she has it. It ties her time up far to often, but I leave that to her. I hate what phones have done to our society in general. I see adults setting in restaurants together eating a meal. Standing in lines, talking on their phones, like they are alone. People are not talking to the other person they are with...this is not good for any relationship and when the relationship blows up or is not going well for them, all will wonder what the heck happened!!

Remember this post, then you may 'get it'! Relationships prosper from face to face discussions. Facial expressions, body language are required elements to have a quality relationship develop. And it helps one to maintain and/or improve existing relationships...
