Are you short?

My first passport in 1973 said I was 5'7". The next one I got 10 years later said I was 5'6 3/4". I kept shrinking little by little and last year's physical measured me at 5'4". Last week? 5'3 3/4". I'm the incredible shrinking woman. DD is 5'10" and DGD is 5'9" and get called on a lot to come over here and get something out of a top cupboard so that I don't have to fetch my stepladder.
 

One thing I've wondered about. I have a queen-size bed & my feet reach all the way to the front edge. (I'm 5'11")
What the heck do people do about that when they're 6'3", 6'4", 6'5"??
 

I'm right at 6' , down from being just over 6'1"

Had a short friend 4'8" [now deceased] .......who once said........... just remember one thing , when it rains......I'm the last one to get wet. :D
 
I'm 6 feet. Today, a 6 footer qualifies as an assistant ball boy in the NBA. So, I never thought about how height affects you. I was a Corpsman in the Navy, so I saw a lot of US Marines. Generally, most were small, fit ,wiry guys. Navy men tended to be taller, and a lot heavier. The Marines did have an attitude about them. The reason I mention that is because I found that some small, fit, wiry guys have a "kick ass" attitude. My buddy Dave is a small, fit, wiry guy. When we we were much younger, we 'd go bar hoppin'. Inevitably, at some point, Dave would shout, "Come on, we're taking 'em on". He was going to fight the bar. No, WE weren't. I 'd pull him out of the place. Some small guys were always trying to prove themselves. Of course, this a verified, scientific observation.
 
I was self conscious about my height when I was a kid because I was always the tallest kid in class. By the time I was 14 I was 6 feet tall. I figured I would be taller than my old man who had been 6-2 according to his driver license, or 6-3 if you believed what he said he was. But then the short genes from my 5-3 mother kicked in and I stopped growing. So by the time I got to high school a few dudes caught up and passed me and I didn't stick out anymore. I preferred that. Now in my old age I've shrunk down to 5-11. I'm actually shorter than I was at 14. But it's a comfortable height.
