Ascot ties: Sharp-dressed man, or silly old man trying to look hip?

I actually don't like them at all.... but I believe anyone can wear what they like as long as it's not breaking a law...

Interesting stuff RR about the Cravat and Ascot, I didn't know that... ...however Mike is right.. here in the UK, the ''Ascot tie' in the original photo is actually just known as a Cravat

I don't think I'm KOOL enough to wear a ascot.......heck, I don't own a tie or suit and I haven't worn anything that even remotely resembles a suit since my dress uniform that the Army gave me when I got out back in mid 70'.

I have absolutely no use for one but for some reason mama got in her pretty little head that I just had to have a tailored sport coat so a couple of weeks ago she drug me kicking and screaming to a men's store and bought me one.

It's tailored to fit me, is a super dark gray (almost black) and I'll admit that it looks nice but I have no idea when I'll ever wear it.......maybe I'll get me one of them western bolo ties to go with it and wear it mowing the yard this summer. :)

I forgot about the bolo!

Now with your new jacket, you must take your lady out to a nice restaurant and order champagne.

RR and Holly I might just do that and take her out to some really nice fancy joint.......but dontcha think I might be a tad over dressed for Mickey D's ?

I predict that sometime in the near future ALL of those things that go around your neck ( ties, ascots, cravats, bow

ties etc. will be passe; a thing of the past. Not really needed are they? Take a look at what the guys are wearing

in the movies about the future.

I never knew why men wear these anyway.

While I do appreciate a sharp dressed man, I'm more of a hard hat, flannel shirt type of gal.

Thanks! The gf just came in and said she admits it looks better than she thought it would. Now, I just might order some others. When I was a kid, I liked the turtleneck inserts that had a name I won't post. LOL!
