What's going on? Did the Assistant US defence secretary David Shear "misspeak" or is a hot war with China on the cards?

Assistant US defence secretary David Shear told a Congressional hearing B-1 bombers and surveillance aircraft would soon be based in Australia as a deterrent to what America described as China's "destabilising effect" in the region.
"We will be placing additional air force assets in Australia as well as B-1 bombers and surveillance aircraft," he said.

The Pentagon now says the assistant secretary misspoke.

I thought that I heard on the news that whoever had announced this was going to happen mis-spoke and that NO B-1's will be going to Australia. Maybe I heard wrong?

Yes, apparently he "mis-spoke" but what does that mean?

They're not coming. Ever.
They are coming but it isn't common knowledge yet.
They're not B1s, they're B2s?

He is the Assistant US Defence Secretary so how can he possibly misspeak?
I would like to know what he actually meant to say.

Ours was born in England. We're not sure that his English citizenship was renounced when he was elected to parliament.
He could have been elected illegally. He refuses to demonstrate that he has renounced it.

However, that's the least of the reasons I want him gone.

Ours is a Canadian DW. Among other things, this lawyer keeps being slammed by our Supreme Court because he wishes to ignore any laws he finds distasteful. Sounds like your pm is not much different.
