No, not mine.

I have rerturned to the real World after Christmas and
see on the news that there are terrible fires in Australia
and that the temperature in America is almost summer-
like, while in a great part of north England, from Manchester
north into southern Scotland, there are big floods.

I feel really sorry for all those that are involbed and hope
that nobody here is.

Mike.

It was a deadly night in Texas last night!! First reports are that 8 people lost their lives due to Tornadoes..

The warm temps that we have been having (20 degrees above our norm) have collided with a colder blast from the North causing many Tornadoes!!

Luckily they where all South and East of my location..

Our home in Scotland could never get flooded as it's up a slight hill. Plus the ocean would have to rise a massive amount to flood it.

As for tornadoes in TX, my nephew and his family are headed there right now to start his new job in Dallas. Hope it didn't hit their new home.

Our island in Thailand had more rain than normal due to storms in the Philippines, but it's calming down now.

Do you know what town his home is located ??

Storms and tornadoes, floods, massive fires, heat waves and blizzards - the U.S. has it all right now.

I'm moving to Canada - oh, wait - I'm banned there ... :(

My rain gauge goes to 5 1/4 inches, and it was overflowed this morning. We have a brief respite for a couple of hours, but round 2 is on the way for this afternoon, and tonight. Around 8PM last night there was a Very close lightning strike, and we lost power for a few seconds....I imagine there is a tree in the forest that has been shattered. Low lying areas all over the southern/central parts of the state are under flash flood warnings, and snow/ice may be moving into the western/northern parts tonight. What a drastic change from the mild weather we've had so far.

Anyone who is doubting the effects of this El Nino...and even Climate Change...needs to start paying attention.

My husband and I were watching the horrible weather in TX on TV this morning. I know once Garland was mentioned and that's where we used to go to a flea market when my husband was working in, I think Plano. My good friend is in the panhandle and she's been on pins and needles but so far still has her power so she can email me. Several of our friends who used to go to church with us in this area moved to TX several years ago and they are mostly around the Dallas/Tyler/Gilmer areas. It's mind boggling to see all the bad weather in so many different parts of the country.

I was just telling my husband that we are so lucky not to have our home and life destroyed by such terrible weather conditions. I hope you and yours are safe Ken, my heart goes out to all who are dealing with these natural tragedies. :(

Mike, I just posted a photo here of a man saving a young joey from an Australian brushfire. I know from Warrigal that Australia has had it's fair share of wildfire devastation. I also feel for the people in England and Scotland who are affected by flooding. Just here in the US, California seems to be always suffering with droughts, fires, floods or related mudslides...so sad.

New Mexico has declared a state of emergency due to a winter storm that dumped a whole bunch of snow. It is worst in the southeastern part of the state. We got snow here, too, but not nearly as much as they got down south. I-40 is closed eastbound from the main interchange in Albuquerque and news says semis are stacked up for miles. Fortunately we still have power here, but I've heard it is out in some areas in the southeastern part of the state, and we have temperatures down in the lower teens, which is way colder than usual for this time of year.

Some years ago, I was flying from New York to Dallas when we received the updated hourly weather forecast from METARs (weather forecast for avaition) in Dallas stating that we should be advised to use IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) into Dallas and that severe weather was predicted with possible microbursts and tornadoes. As we flew nearer to DFW (Dallas), I saw a lot of red (severe weather) on our on-board weather radar. I was always a cautious pilot, so I did not hesitate to divert to Houston after making sure we had enough fuel to reach there. (We had been running close.) Dallas (DFW) has always been an unpredictable airport to fly into, especially in the spring when the weather is beginning to warm, but the cold air is still flowing down off the Rockies causing tornadoes.
