For anyone interested I've started posting photos of the dogs I've kept together, as master and apprentice here:

Gardening for nature, walks with my dogs and the books I’m reading.

First Sophie and Fletcher, then Fletcher and Heidi, then Heidi and Smokey and finally Smokey and Ember. Currently Ember is too young at 2 to serve as a master so I won't be getting her an apprentice any time soon. Plus I'm feeling like I may be too old to ever take on another pup. So far I've made posts of Smokey with Heidi and Heidi with Fletcher.

On a recent walk near the bay Ember is giving me the look. Sometimes I think her expectations for me are too high and she should bring me along more slowly.
