Can't find my car in the parking lot.

For the first time in my life I couldn't find my car in a Walmart parking lot and a follow senior citizen came to my rescue which was wonderful. Have you ever lost your car in a parking lot?
Oh yea, all the time. For me there's nothing "senior" about this, been losing my car since the '70s.

Trouble finding my car I now take as a "given". What bothers me more is by the time I get to the store, I forgot what I went for. Making a list doesn't help - I either lose it or skip over things. Twice the other week, I went to two grocery stores to get bagged spinach. Both times I came home with a cartfull of items EXCEPT spinach.

When I have trouble finding my car, I'll use the transmitter key & listen for the beep or the horn.
But that doesn't work unless I'm close to the car. I'm half deaf & I also have C.R.S.
Now, if I park on a multi-level lot, I'll write down the floor & "Middle" or "End" of a row.

"C.R.S." is "Can't Remember Shit."

Yes, I have been called to malls to help people find their vehicle. I was called to a mall parking lot to help an older lady find her vehicle. She was probably around 70 y/o. Very sweet, nice and she seemed very sharp. She described her car to a “T”, including the license plate number.

I drove her around for a good 20 minutes looking for her car. She was frustrated, I was getting frustrated and that’s when she looked over at me and said, “Oh no. I just remembered that I drove my husband’s car.” She remembered it when she saw it parked in the lot. We both laughed. She was very apologetic, but I was just glad we found it.

Yes i have.....I parked the car in a side street, as I was taking my mum and aunt dancing...
I decided to stay and watch, so an hour later we came out and my car had gone ,! 😱
We walked all around the streets, my auntie was in a flap as she had to go pick her grandsons up from school..so she left us to go jump on a bus......
We were still walking around, !
Mum then decided that we should go to a police station......but I never knew the registration number......my Hubbys car, so I never took any notice .....🥴
This was before we had mobile phones, we had a car phone installed ......
Anyway we found it in the end about an hour later......
What an experience 😣🙁

As an old Brooklyn Dodgers fan, I can sympathize.

Getting back to cars, my current car is red. I am not a big fan of that color, I deliberately chose red because I figured it would stand out more in a parking lot and be easier to find.

Guess what? Red has turned out to be the most popular color for cars in recent years. The exact same shade of red. It has not help me locate my car at all, and a few times I've tried to get into the wrong car. (Why isn't the door opening? Something mush be wrong with the - oh. Never mind.)

It may have been Daniel Boone or Davey Crockett who said he was never lost, but was a mite bewildered for a week or two...

Having experienced the frustration leading to panic in locating a vehicle in vast, autonomous parking lots, I now use any locators provided plus generate my own location markers to aid in finding a car. This is especially valuable if your return walk is in rain, high wind, extreme cold, or if the lot is frequented by shady characters...

We've had silver and white cars. I want red next time, as it's the most highly visible in bad weather - and I'm tired of seeing nothing but black, white & silver cars! I like the brighter reds and blues that are out now.

When you go into the woods
Ive never been lost in the woods.... confused a couple days, but never lost....

My best parking lot story.... walk out and was kinda confused since our truck wasnt were i thought it was....
as i try the key it wont work... trying another key someone starts yelling at me....
Hard to believe 2 identical toyota 4runners in the same area of the mall parking lot.

My brother in law had a similar thing happen but his key actually opened the door of a fairly new Cadillac Seville (back in the 80s). He and his family got in and something felt weird about the seat position. He looked around, noticed an unfamiliar tissue box, then realized they were in the wrong car. OMG - Quick, everyone, GET OUT!

His family thought he was a lunatic, Turns out their car was a row or two over.

He called the dealership when he got home to tell his story. The manager admitted GM only had about 25 different key configurations. After that, when he'd relate this tale in a group a lot of people would say things like, "Yeah, one day we figured out that my key works in my dad's car and vice versa."

No longer true because of the chips, but wow.
