Certain actors you cannot bear

I find I take against certain actors or TV personalities and I don't really know why. Does this happen to you?

Watching the drama 'The Sixth Commandment' I got really irritated with the niece of the old lady being targeted from episode 2. The nervy, hysterical character of this niece unsettled me.

My husband is quite amused as he says it's usually young, attractive actresses or TV personalities I cannot bear - but that's not true. I know I can't stand Amanda Holden but it's not her beauty, it is that she seems so shallow, false, attention-seeking and over the top. I don't like Jeremy Clarkson as he seems arrogant. My husband can't stand Tom Cruise. We actually don't watch certain movies because we just cannot bear the star.

Is this foolish or just human character, that we do take against people for no apparent reason? In life and on TV.

It happens to everyone I would say, on this list is the most loathed actors in Hollywood. There is absolutely no rationality about it, just the complexity of what makes us human.

Have you ever taken umbrage with someone that you don't know, has never caused you distress or annoyance? In my youth I remember someone who so annoyed me, I had to leave just to be out of that person's way. It was my irrationality that was the problem, not the strangers. So it is with actors, although some actors really need to hone their craft.

Oh yes, I m not proud of it but some people just get on my nerves though they have never harmed me.

I don't like hysterical, loud or very vivacious attention seeking people in general.

Cannot bear: Adam Sandler
Even when he does what looks like a good job in a movie, I come away not liking him. He lacks charisma I suppose.
And then what's up with Miley Cyrus? I didn't know she was an actress. She can't sing or perform on stage. Definitely a case of Daddy got me this job.
Speaking of which, there's Gwyneth Paltrow who has yet to impress me in the few movies I've seen with her. I can't remember any of her movies. Only that I don't like her.

Many of the people in the list of 25 are arrogant and it's hard to understand why that is. Maybe they all lack charisma.
They come across with a sense that they believe they are great when in fact they are just actors delivering lines. Some don't even bother to change for their parts.

Then there are those who have public scandal that destroys their careers. That's a different circumstance that makes people not like them.

You nailed it, especially Adam Sandler. It must have something to do with being an old guy from PA LOL. Howie Mandel is another one.

Frankly ...... Most of them, they are all ego maniacs , that think the world hangs on their every word. Sadly, too many folks actually do.

All these actors do is put on award shows so that they can pat themselves & each other on the back, ..... [or slap each other] ... and hear how wonderful they all are.

I never have cared for Tom Cruise and my negative opinion of him increased even more after watching the Leah Remini documentary exposing Scientology......he's been deeply involved in the cult / organization for many years.

It is easy for me to separate the acting from the actor. Early on I did not like Tom Hanks because of the movies like “Big”. Then i saw him in “Philidelphia” and changed my tune. I do not like the genre slap stick comedy…so have a hard time sometimes with those people who get typecast into those roles.

Well, I don't hate anyone but am not an avid fan of Frank Sinatra, Al Pacino or Robert Di Niro.
Apparently you don't like Italians.
When I lived in CT, we got watch Robert DeNiro shoot outdoor scenes for a movie called, Jacknife, with actor Ed Harris. He was cool at the end of the week some lady asked him to acknowledge the group of people who showed up all week to watch. So he gave everybody a wave and had that smile of his. It was very DeNiro.

That wasn't a bad movie.

No, It's not that they are Italian. Maybe it's because these actors remind me of my first husband who was cruel. (flashbacks)
When I see them, it scares me. No, Nothing against Italians! I can see how it would sound that way! But no.

I also did not like Tom Hanks at first, but he played some other movies that I liked, so I'm ok with him.
