Cheer me up? Please??

To put things in perspective, look elsewhere and ask yourself if things are so bad where you happen to be.

In Australia right now things are more than uncomfortably hot. It's not so hot in the capital cities but elsewhere, heat conditions are very dangerous. On top of that, Nth Queensland is bracing for tropical cyclone Jasper, expected to make landfall later this week.

Heatwave spanning half of Australia this week to be capped by rain, cyclone

Music is the thing. Whatever you liked the best.......and play it loud! Right now, I am playing every one of my CD's in alphabetic order. It will take a few weeks but I decided it was something I used to do when I was younger so going to do now.

Another thing that puts me in a good mood is changing my apartment around. Home decor not holiday decor. I watch home decor videos and then get ideas and start writing it down. It always puts me in a great mood.
I agree about changing your living space around. There’s nothing more motivating than having a fresh clean living space. I’m not suggesting yours is cluttered. I’m suggesting moving a few things around to remind yourself that nothings permanent. Buy yourself a big bouquet of flowers and put them in vases all over your home. This reminds you that you are worthy of having nice things around you.

Bake some cookies to make your home smell delicious.

We love you Chic!

This is my favorite time of year. I love the early evenings, and the cold means you can get snuggly.

It's a shame the leaves fall, of course, and sometimes walking my dog can be a little treacherous, but hey. But it's the cycle of life, and the tree's are just having a rest. I'm also diligent to make sure I leave food out for the wild critters. Feels good to make their lives a tiny bit better.

I find the dark very soothing, very calming. When it's light, it feels like the day never ends. I have no good reason for it, but I listen to music better in the dark, so the early sunset really works for me.

It's turned super cold early this season. We got our first snowfall yesterday. All the leaves have fallen from the trees and everything is an ugly brown color because its dead. This is the most depressing time of the year, for me, personally, to slog through. It's ugly, it's uncomfortable and Santa doesn't ring my chimes at all. What to do?

I'm open for advice. Please be kind.
My heart goes out to you. We have all endured this season. This song sometimes helps.

Everyone has great suggestions and photos. Love them.

@chic , write a letter to winter. You can make it fancier than this if ya want. :)🤗

I don't want to be friends anymore.

I am going to see other seasons.

Chic
I love the sentiment, Chic! So you're cheating on winter with spring and summer? Have you no shame?!! ;) XOXO Dust Bunny

Move to the south west. It can get down to the lower 40's once in awhile, but pine, palm& cactus stay green. I admit stringing cactus with Christmas lights does look funny. Kind of tradition now is BBQ'ing porterhouse stakes on Christmas day is doable.

Have you tried a SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) light? My doctor recommended one to me years ago and they really do work.
I bought one after I retired because I was afraid I might become depressed on gloomy and rainy days. Yes, they do work. Great suggestion!

What also works for me is going to the gym if it is too cold or rainy to walk outside. I'll do at least a mile on the treadmill while listening to music. But then we are rarely snowed or iced in here in Dallas, although it does happen.

Chic - You do sound really depressed, while here I am in Australia hating the horrible hot days as we near closer to Christmas. Oh, how I'd love to be in your neck of the woods as I've never seen snow and friends tell me about their trips to London and Berlin. I'd love to be sitting in front of a lovely warm fire with a sparkling Christmas tree nearby. I'm sure Santa will drop in to deliver some goodies. Cheer up, put on a funny DVD, ELF was a favourite with my grandkids.

I can vouch for the temperatures as well Warrigul. Not looking forward to tomorrow with the temperature heading towards the high 40's. Just hope the bushfires don't suddenly explode, as they have in the past. Stay safe.

Thanks Oscash. I'm safe enough where I live in Sydney. However, in fire prone areas of WA, SA and Victoria they are expecting thunderstorms and or dry lightning. They are very likely to set off multiple fires. Things are so bad that I heard a farmer being thankful for having recently been flooded because it will lessen his chances of being burnt out.

@chic I think I can relate to your mood. I have been feeling almost "oppressed" the past few days. I can make up what I think are reasons for feeling this way, it doesn't really help. For me there are so many twists and turns in our lives, even like currents of water moving us here and there. This time for me is filled with deep feelings of the suffering of those who are in real trouble. Then I feel like I have to help some how. But there is nothing I can do, so I feel a bit oppressed by not being able to express these deep feelings I have.
I think this is just a phase in my life, and it is changing...even as you read this...I write it. It will change. I have to be patient and get involved with other projects. I have Misa to bug and interact with. That's one thing, then there is SF, which is fun for me. Plus, on the SF you can be yourself...so experiment with expressing yourself when the spirit moves you to. I have to exercise too because I become sedentary. :)
I hope this was in no way presumptuous. Just some thoughts about you. I really appreciate you. Your contribution to the SF is really cool. :)

I came late to the 'I Love Chic' party, but now that I'm here, I really do love and appreciate you, Chic! I wish we lived near each other. We used to, but when we did we didn't know each other.
