A picture or info-graphic of requirements for cheer leader tryouts has caused controversy at the University of Washington.

Oh the humanity. Specific requirements on appearance for athletic entertainers who will be in front of 10s of thousands and on TV. PC types crying foul-ooops, forgot we're talking college here.. Cheerleading is an optional endeavor or extra curricular activity. And there is specific look and/or skill set required. Take it or leave it.

I agree the model shown is a bit blondeWASP IMO. But I have no problem with the requirements as far as makeup and attire, including no tattoos. Who wants to look at a nearly naked person -- male or female -- covered with tattoos. Not exactly the "wholesome cheerleader" pom-pom-shaking college image, is it? Not that it should matter as long as the players can have dreadlocks hanging out from under their helmets, though.

Back when I was in college cheerleaders wore more clothes than this person; I don't think young college women should appear so skimpily clad -- what will they do come winter in Washington?

And what happened to male cheerleaders? We had those my senior year in high school. Great for lifts and pyramids.

In marketing and advertising, the "target audience" is conditioned to want what they are spoon-fed. For example, hogs will gladly eat slop, because that is what is provided; they know no better or anything different.

I always thought that if fed top quality grain or corn, that hogs would learn to like that as well.
