Cops misbehaving in the US

98% of all cops make the other 2% look bad.
I see motorcycles fly by on a local road at what must be double the speed limit. Too bad cops aren‘t around to nail em. I was walking by a major street downtown when a very pricey sports car flew by like a bat out of Hell. Some people were sitting on a bus bench to whom I commented that I wished I was a cop. One of them replied that they were thinking the same thing. Were it not for law enforcement officers humanity would be in big trouble.

"The former police detective who fired 10 shots through Breonna Taylor’s apartment in a deadly raid in Louisville, Ky., in 2020 was found guilty on Friday night of violating her civil rights by using excessive force."

Lots of other police wrong doing in the death of Breonna Taylor's death in 2020.

"The warrant to raid the apartment was based on shoddy surveillance. Three officers were charged by federal prosecutors with knowingly including false information in an affidavit to get a judge to approve the raid. One of them, Kelly Goodlett, pleaded guilty in 2022. The case against the two other officers, Joshua Jaynes and Kyle Meany, is still open."

NYT 11/4/24 - "A former Columbus, Ohio, police officer was found guilty of murder on Monday in the 2020 shooting of Andre Hill, a Black man whose death spurred protests against police brutality and led to police reforms in the city.

A Franklin County jury also found the officer, Adam Coy, who is white, guilty of two other charges, felonious assault and reckless homicide. Mr. Coy was taken into custody after the verdict was read. He will be sentenced on Nov. 25."

"Mr. Hill was one of four Black residents fatally shot by law enforcement in Columbus over four months in late 2020 and early 2021.

City officials agreed to pay $10 million to Mr. Hill’s family in a 2021 settlement that they described as the largest ever paid out by the city.

Three other law enforcement officers are awaiting trial on murder charges in separate cases in Franklin County, according to a spokesman for the county prosecutor’s office."

This cop killed himself rather than face trial, one would presume he was GUILTY of all charges filed and likely many, many other crimes.

NYT 12/2/24.
"A former Kansas police detective who had been accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting two women over several years while on duty was found dead on Monday, the first day of his trial on federal civil rights charges.
Roger Golubski, 71, died of a fatal gunshot wound at his home in Edwardsville, west of Kansas City, Kan., according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. The police had responded to a 911 call reporting the sound of a gunshot and found Mr. Golubski dead on his back porch, the bureau said, adding that there were no signs of foul play.

Mr. Golubksi had been scheduled to appear in a federal courtroom in Topeka on Monday morning for the start of jury selection. Prosecutors later told the judge that Mr. Golubski had died and requested that the case be dismissed, The Associated Press reported.

His lawyer, Christopher Joseph, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. In court on Monday, Mr. Joseph told the judge that his client, who faced a maximum sentence of life in prison, “was despondent about the media coverage,” according to CNN.

Mr. Golubski, who retired from the Police Department in Kansas City, Kan., in 2010 after 35 years on the force, had long been suspected of raping and terrorizing Black women as he patrolled the streets. A former police officer and captain, he was accused of sexually assaulting two women multiple times from 1998 to 2002, and he was indicted in 2022 on six federal counts of civil rights violations. He had pleaded not guilty.

Activists and residents in Kansas City told The New York Times in 2022 that they had long believed that Mr. Golubski, who was white, had abused his position on the force to prey on Black women, and that they believed his actions had gone unpunished for decades.

The allegations against Mr. Golubski gained steam after Lamonte McIntyre, who had been imprisoned for 23 years for a crime he didn’t commit, accused the former detective of framing him for a double murder.
Mr. McIntyre also claimed in a wrongful conviction lawsuit against Mr. Golubski and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kan., that the former police detective sexually assaulted Black women, including his mother, according to The A.P. The unified government agreed to settle the case for $12.5 million in June 2022, The A.P. reported."

Is this the way you expect to be treated?

There was no violation, and yet cop tries his hardest to get an admission of speeding and following to closely. This driver had a dash cam. I'd bet a dozen doughnuts that driver would have gotten 1 or possibly 2 tickets w/out the dash cam.

I feel sorry for the next driver they pulled over, especially if the driver does not know the rules to deal with these situations.

This nice young man seemingly had nothing to worry about. Keep your eye on the motorcycles left side mirror and you'll see the officer sneak up on the rider committing assault and criminal property damage, among other offenses.

This young man, an uber driver, does exactly what he's asked so he shouldn't have anything to worry about either, but he makes the mistake of informing his passengers that it was NOT required of them to show ID to the officers during the traffic stop. The cops are sworn to uphold the Constitution, but exercising those rights seems to drive them insane so they loaded the poor guy up with tickets in retaliation. Tyrants and bullies.

This young man should have nothing to worry about, but the bully cop insists that he doesn't have the right to remain silent during the stop. The officer has lost his qualified immunity as a result of his actions and is being sued personally.

The idea that one has nothing to worry about when interacting with cops is foolish and risky. Maybe it wasn't always that way but it is now.

Boise PD Officer Stone lies during a child custody hearing. Disgusting.

Idaho Statesmen 7/17/19

"Prosecutors have been forced to notify defendants in at least 47 cases that a former Boise Police Department officer might have lied under oath, casting potential doubt on her testimony in their cases.

Records obtained by the Idaho Statesman show that a deputy city prosecutor on June 11 sent 19 notices to defendants, telling them that former Boise Police Department officer Kayse Stone violated “departmental policies regarding truthfulness in testimony in court” on May 7, 2018, at a child custody hearing. On May 16, 2019, Boise PD’s internal investigation “sustained findings” against Stone regarding the departmental policies."

Some will no doubt go on living in the past however it's doubtful the past they're remembering now ever existed at all except in their imagination.

"The Department of Justice (DOJ) opened an investigation of the Worcester PoliceDepartment (WPD) and the City of Worcester (City) on November 15, 2022. Based onthis investigation, DOJ has reasonable cause to believe that WPD and the City engagein a pattern or practice of conduct that deprives people of their rights under theConstitution and federal law. First, WPD uses excessive force. Second, WPD engaged in outrageous government conduct by permitting undercover officers to participate in sexual contact with women suspected of being involved in the commercial sex trade."

DOJ report

I have not seen things get any better in this Country, your Police Force is as good as the people in it, my guess , we have 25% of people that are pretening to be police officers, that should be in the mental ward, but we have 25% percent of the general population that should join them. You need sort the bad people that want to be police officers out, before they go to post, now I think we have 75% of police officers to want to help the public, who they serve everyday, which is a high percentage, they go out of their way to help people , just know something about this, thanks Sgt Ed, Sana Ana PD.

NYT- "Two women, 65 and 75 years old, were taken to a police station in Mount Vernon, N.Y., after a traffic stop in 2020. Officers instructed both women to undress. Then they were told to bend over and cough.
Neither woman was arrested, and an investigation determined there had been no basis for the traffic stop in the first place. One of the women said she had been left “very humiliated” and “on the verge of fainting” from fear after the invasive search, commonly used in drug arrests.

The encounter is just one example of a long-running pattern of improper strip searches conducted by the police department in Mount Vernon, in Westchester County, according to a report released Thursday by the Department of Justice and the U.S. attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York.

In the 34-page report, investigators outlined “significant systemic deficiencies” at the very core of the police department that they said had resulted in unnecessarily violent encounters and improper arrests. The report also raised “serious concerns about discriminatory policing in predominantly Black neighborhoods,” according to a statement from the Department of Justice."

The entire disgusting story
