The judge stated that he is a danger while in society. I was kind of stunned. After all, he is 81, I believe. I would expect his attorneys to try getting bail through the appeals court.

Hmm 81 years old out on bail a threat to society. Must be a mystery to everyone what he did that makes him a threat. At 81 just how much of a threat could he be? I wish there was some kind of device that could be put around his ankle to monitor where he is at any given time during the day. IMO @ 81 out spending some of his money on his needs and doing some kind of community service would be better that being in prison with tax payers footing the bill for his medical & other life sustaining needs.
 
Knight - people aren't only put in prison/jail (glad to say I really don't understand the distinction) to protect society, there is also a punitive aspect. He wantonly took from women that which satisfied his desires and still shows no understanding that they weren't put on this earth for his benefit.

In addition, if you haven't ever been a caregiver or spent time in nursing homes, assisted livings, or other places where somewhat addled elderly men live, you might be shocked at how grabby and sexually inappropriate many of them are. Many of these men were sexually mild-mannered before slight cognitive losses set in, and Cosby was far from mild-mannered in that arena.

Also, 81? pffft.... I've been aggressively propositioned by centenarians!

He did the crime it's time for him to do the time. There are - and should be - consequences for his actions.

p.s. He is spending money. On lawyers. Oodles of it.
 
You're correct, StarSong. My grandmother in her late eighties was sexually assaulted by another resident in the care home she was in. Eighty-one year old man can't do anything to harm anyone else just by virtue of his age? Hahaha

Unfortunately I have witnessed similar.

I'll shorten a long story. At a sports bar with four other men, all some 15-20 years my senior, I was 51-52 @ the time.

Our waitress suddenly WHOPPED the guy sitting next to me. And i mean she got him good,right on the side of his head. You can imagine what followed. He had been 'groping' her, every time she came to the table. I and the guy sitting on the other side of the offender had both told him several times to knock it off.

He was asked to leave, and did, the rest of us were invited to stay and we did.

What sort of amazed / amazes me about this is...He had a daughter about the same age as the waitress.
