Quite a bit of stuff is removed from a corpse before it is cremated. Most organs are removed, cremated, and disposed of separately.I've been told if you have had hip replacement or a pacemaker in your body they would have to be removed before the cremation.
Cremains within the gray-to-beige color range means everything is as it should be. Color differences depend on what type of casket or box the remains were put into for cremation; wood, wicker, heavy cardboard, etc.
Some funeral homes filter out the bone bits before giving the ashes to you.
It is your grandmother. The dark grey color is from whatever type of container her body was placed in before cremation. My guess is, they used a heavy cardboard container, possibly a black one, but not necessarily. Is there a way to post photos on here from my laptop, not from the internet?
So is the dark grey powder, my grandmother or not?
I have 2 spinal cages. Does that count?I've been told if you have had hip replacement or a pacemaker in your body they would have to be removed before the cremation.

Or sold on the black market?Wow! I didn't know that.
Organs aren't, but a few crematories have been busted for illegally selling arms, legs, feet, and torsos.Or sold on the black market?
Most likely settled out of court.Organs aren't, but a few crematories have been busted for illegally selling arms, legs, feet, and torsos.
I remember reading about a guy who sued a lab that his grandmother had donated her body to...for science. The lab sent the body to some outfit that tests explosives, and they blew up gramma's body.
The grandson found out, and was extremely upset about it. But for his lawsuit to go forward, his attorney had to prove that formulating and testing experimental explosives is NOT a science. (I believe that it is)
I don't know if he was successful. I never saw an update.
Mz Death ! eek! ...I will be cremated in a gown, that I will be making in the new future, surrounded by sunflowers, in a thin pine box (or cardboard or whatever they use).

Yes, well, I refuse to end up with the last thing I ever wear being something someone pulled out of the back of my closet I wouldn't wear, or worse, the yoga pants I live in. No, I'm wearing this gown and I'll be surrounded by sunflowers. The last thing I ever wear is going to be something beautiful that I made myself.Mz Death ! eek! ......
Did you create the gown?Yes, well, I refuse to end up with the last thing I ever wear being something someone pulled out of the back of my closet I wouldn't wear, or worse, the yoga pants I live in. No, that's a picture I found on the net, closest to the image I had in my mind. I will create the gown from the picture.Did you create the gown?
What does the medical university do with whatever remains exist when they are done with your body?I donated my body to a medical university, and they've accepted it (you get a letter of acceptance).
I'd have chosen to be buried if it was legal to be buried either without a casket, or in an enclosure that rots at pretty much the same rate as corpses.
