We know this area well , our hearts go out to Everone effected ,I have mentioned before we had a very warm dry October resulting in roadside grasses drying out and making for vey high fire danger ..
Sadly 3 have been confirmed dead, A piggery of 3000 pigs destroyed as well as many homes pets ,livestock
This area is about 45 Minuites drive from me on the way to Adelaide..This area is like the area where we live being cereal growing ,area with many sheds full of newly baled hay
It was close to 40c yesterday with 90 km hour winds helping to fan the fire ..Its forecast fir 20c today so it will give the devastated people who have lost homes ,and the firefighters a chance to access the heartbreaking situation

Australia is an arid, high fire, low nutrient ecosystem and our native plants are well adapted to this environment. Our food plants are not.
2015 is already looking like being the hottest year on record and what we are seeing in South Australia today is something that will happen more often and in more areas as one result of climate change. We will be losing more and more crops to fire in the future. Perhaps when the vineyards are burning the penny will finally drop for the global warming deniers.
