Declining birth rates in developed countries threaten economic security!

With aging populations and smaller work forces the prosperity of many countries has started to fall. More women are opting for fewer if any children so as to pursue careers or provide extra income for a better life style and this has caught up with us. I have no solution, do you?
 

Darwin's theory focuses on reproductive success, not whether you went to an Ivy League college, and so the families that have the most children will flourish and the high income achievers will become a smaller and smaller proportion of the population. Seemingly good demographics for the Democratic Party provided they can motivate the less wealthy, less educated classes to vote. How we cope with this inequality of wealth will determine our success as a nation.
 
The prediction is the white population in this country will be in the minority by around 2030...
 

China's controlled reproduction rate has lifted the country economically. Socially it is paying a cost.
Japan's low reproduction rate has resulted in economic stagnation.

Or is it really the birth rate or is something else contributing to these effects?

The baby boomers here are going to break the bank. If they have any assets they are putting them in the names of their children and grandchildren so as to have the government pay for any nursing home expense. With fewer workers paying taxes, and the demand on the tax dollars increasing, it could get very interesting down the line, as the aging are also living a lot longer. I don't believe that some poor soul cleaning toilets at a mall should have to pay for my care or anyone else's if resources have been "hidden." I have told my kids that anything that I have should pay for my care and I wish others would do the same...
 
China does not have social safety nets like SS and Medicare. Culturally, aging people depend on a SON to support them and care for them in their old age, and females traditionally leave their families to care for the parents of her husband. That is why a sizable percentage of female fetuses are aborted, or if taken to term, abandoned at an orphanage.. Many are adopted by childless couples from other countries. The price to China is that their is a shortage of available females. Proving that social engineering still has biology to contend with.

I believe he is talking about hiding assets so Medicaid can pay for nursing home costs. They are tightening up considerably on those loopholes.
It is on a state by state basis.
 
Between automation of our manufacturing processes, and huge population growths among the poorer nations and depressed ethnic groups, this "income inequality" is certain to continue to increase...until all Hell breaks loose. We see it here in the disparity between our mainstream population and the poverty that persists in our minorities. Europe is heading for troubles with the influx of immigrants flowing in from Africa and the Middle East. The availability of good paying jobs continues to decrease, while the number of unskilled people continues to grow. This is a sure recipe for disaster.

I remember reading a report way back in the 1960's about the future of humanity. There was a gathering of Academics and Futurists in Switzerland, and they speculated on the future of humanity. Their conclusion was that sometime in the latter half of the 21st century, there would be one more massive World War. This would Not be a war between nations, but rather a global conflict between the Have's and Have Not's. It would basically boil down to either the Have's running out of bullets, or the Have Not's running out of bodies. If the Have's win, humanity comes together under one Global government and reaches for the stars. If the Have Not's win, we revert back to the Middle Ages.

It seems that with every passing year, there is mounting evidence that these "predictions" may be coming true.
 
Certainly a dim view that might come true. But, in the meantime there is a five year "look back" in RI for any assets that might have been "hidden" away such as property and cash put in someone else's name. We actually have lawyers advertising on the media telling you that you can save all or some, so call today. This is about Medicaid and specifically nursing home care, and these assets can't be touched if you have them out of your name for at least five years...
 
There have always been these doom and gloom scenarios around, but somehow the human race goes ploughing on!Immigration, especially if it can be controlled ( as in Australia) is the answer. we have more than enough in The UK though.

All of our assets are fully known by the government. We have to update them every six months and even if we didn't, the accounts can be checked by the government because they have all the details, acct numbers etc. There is a limit on the amount we can gift to our children in any year ($10,000) with a five year limit of $30,000. If a wad of money disappears mysteriously there is a "please explain" request.

When people with assets enter a nursing home they must lodge an accommodation bond. The home is entitled to the interest and a significant amount of the capital for five years. After that the capital is untouched and is eventually returned to the patient or their estate when they leave the nursing home. This scheme ensures that aged care is less dependent of government funding although for people without assets no bond is required.

Our assets consist of our house and about $40,000 in the bank. We also have superannuation investments that provide an income stream. The government knows all about us and we wouldn't dream of hiding anything.

Don't copy Australia. We are losing our souls on this issue. Our border control policies are pretty close to being a crime against humanity. Especially the hapless children.
 
The ONLY ones who can hide any substantial amounts of assets are the very rich. There are hundreds of billions, perhaps trillions of dollars hidden away in off shore banks by these super wealthy individuals and corporations, so as to avoid paying taxes on that money. Recently, the government worked out some sort of agreement with the Swiss banks to uncover some of those funds, but that is probably just a pittance compared to what is stashed away in places like the Cayman Islands.

"Controlled" immigration might work, but what we have for "controls" in the U.S. is a Joke. California is already a Mexican majority, and it won't be long before the other Southern border states join that club. The Mexicans are still angry over the Mexican/American war, and their LaRaza organizations refer to California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas as "Aztlan"....and they will not be happy until our SW is once again under Mexican control. Our government seems to have given up on stopping this flow of illegals, and now are working on plans to "legalize" millions of these "Interlopers". Personally, I have little sympathy for those whose first act on our soil is to break our laws.
