Define in your own words, what being a lady means to you.

Ladies?

Oh yes, ladies!!

Those fabulous creatures that can turn my head and make me walk into lamp-posts, who can make me feel totally wrong when I know that I'm right and who can know what I'm thinking before I even think it.
What would I do without them? 😊

A lady carries herself in a respectful manner and is not loud or vulgar. She dresses in a presentable (a word my mother used to use) fashion, even if she's in casual wear. Her wardrobe may also be classic and classy. Her clothes will not be too tight, revealing or gaudy. She has a pleasant demeanor and knows how to interact with others in social situations...or she may be shy and quiet, so does not draw attention to herself. You'll know a lady when you come across one.

Once upon a time the term "lady" was used for a woman of high social class. In more recent times it was seen as a polite way to refer to a woman. I remember hearing the term "ladylike" which generally meant the woman described was seen as polite and dignified.

Personally, I think it is now just another label which is often used to denigrate women who simply want to live without the constraints of being judged for the way they dress or choose to live their lives. 🤷‍♀️

My mother always cautioned me to never draw attention to myself. To me, a lady is respectful of others, polite, does not raise her voice to get her point across. I agree about dressing in a way that is not too revealing or gaudy.
