They are delicious and they are much tastier than the stuff for St.Patrick's Day. RI has a big Itlo/American population that provides us with great delights, pizza, calzones, spinach pies, lasagna, etc., etc....

One of these?

For 25 years I did celebrate St Joseph's Day because I worked for an order of nuns known as the Josephites.
We never ate Italian doughnuts though.

Those shown are less dressed up then the ones we get. Ours have a nice sweet cream with a cherry on top! Enjoy with a defibrillator handy...

If you had visited RI at this time of the year you would have found out. The weather is nasty (snowing today) but the food is great...

Hello Ralphy1 - You speak'a my language! We go all the time to RI for pastries and Italian goodies....Federal Hill is a favorite place for shopping when we go to Rhode Island... I born in Italy, so I know where to find the good stuff! Crugnale pizza strips... all kind of good and tasty thing to try. :) We were not too long ago at Capriccio's for dinner with friends... always a joy to dine there. :) I did not eat a zeppole, but I buy 2 boxes of them to bring home for family who was visit with us.... I make my own spinach pies and lasagna and pappardelle and pizzas... Did YOU enjoy a zeppole? I think so, yes? :) From Gia xo

Raymond was also a big figure in RI, especially with the state police, but he had no charisma...

Yes ..he Raymond and Raymond Jr. was well-known for many thing there... Charisma - is a matter of opinion.. He kind of a gruff guy - but he have some charisma with certain people, I am told. That WAY before Gia time. :) He was a business man - and his business was to controlling people to his way...he make a lots of $$$ - he was quite a smart one - I think an attorney, also? ... ** My brother, Michael, when he was little boy, 8 year old - on summer day, he go to a house that was being build and he go inside. The workers was away at lunch time. He take cans of paint and he make a big mess all over the place...The builder retorn and he grab Michael and he say to Michael - "You go home and you bring you Papa back here for see what a big mess you make!" So Michael run home and he bring my Grandfather because Papa was working. My Grandfather say sorry to the builder, and the builder yell and holler and say - "who will cleaning up this mess?" So my Grandfather write a check for him to cover the damage so some one will clean it up for the builder. When the builder take one look at the name on the check, his eyes was grow wide and he get all red face ...he try right away to give the check back to my Grandfather. He see Patriarca (distant cousin to Raymond) name on the check, and almost soil he self. ;) But, my Grandfather apology for Michael and insist he will keep the check....and he did. Funny how is such a small world, yes? :)
