Do You Believe In Homeopathy?

If you believe--------WHY?

If not------------------WHY?

I believe that Homeopathy is where much of modern day medicine comes from.

I also believe that in today's world Homeopathy, as a treatment option, can be very dangerous for a trusting individual battling a serious illness.

IMO when all people have left is hope it opens them up to a variety of scams. Homeopathy is an area where unscrupulous people can prey on the hopes of desperate, ignorant and uninformed people for financial gain.

I read that homeopathic remedies may only make one feel better due to the placebo effect (just believing it will work) or because the ailment has run it's course like a cold does. I'm not a fan of medicine either as that sometimes makes things worse, but do follow doctors orders over my personal opinion because sometimes medicine works for serious issues.

I'm a big fan of juicing, exercise, sleep, and natural spring water. Pure clean unprocessed whole foods, especially when packed with nutrition like supergreens, and staying away from sugar (including substitute sugars) is the way to go for prevention.

Edit: My post below adds a different take on my comment above after reading other member's comments..."I'm confused as to the definition of homeopathy. I put Turmeric in my juice because it's an anti-inflammatory. And the other ingredients I use in my juice like spinach, apple, ginger, cucumber, and celery also have health benefits but I just think of that as "eating healthy". Is Turmeric, for example, considered a homeopathic remedy then? I read that potassium and calcium are considered homeopathic.

I've read a dark definition of homeopathy too which is how it all started but maybe that's changed now? For instance, to inject a small amount of a virus to cure a virus..."like cures like". Also, the use of snake venom and ink from an octopus."

I've been impressed by the results when I experienced homeopathy. I had a skin condition a few years ago. After I tried everything else, I tried a homeopathic remedy that worked wonders.

If it had been due to the placebo effect, all of those other things would have worked too.

I admit I'm not sure about the difference between homeopathy and injecting trace amounts of live viruses into humans and calling it immunization and inoculation.

I should have added that my dentist is a homeopath. I've gotten excellent results both in terms of pain relief and faster healing from the pills he has given me.

Not sure at this point as I have not been researching it all that long. It reads like it shows promise in some areas ? with some people. An Aspirin for example can have different results in different folks.

I did have a normal practice / medical doc tell me , not long ago that [they] are not taught homeopathic ways / treatments, etc..in Med-School. But that even he is beginning to think there just may be something to it....in limited application. He went on to say that he is just to entrenched in standard western medicine , to begin new studies now. And that he was to close to retiring...

I've tried some homeopathic remedies years ago for allergy and pain, and I saw no results with homeopathic medicines. But, I'm a big fan of vitamins, supplements and herbs, which I have been using for many years.

" For instance, to inject a small amount of a virus to cure a virus..."like cures like".

Isn't that what a vaccination is ? So is vaccinating homeopathic ?

I never want to waste my time going to somebody for medical treatment/advice who couldn't

finish medical school as a full fledged MD ! And THAT includes "osteopaths" who fall into that category.

I @ one time would have agreed fully but...that was in days of old. When med school & all other institutions of higher learning [colleges] were just that. Now days they seem to be more of a money making business.......jmo

Good point...I think it's evolved over time to the point of confusion and no one knows how to define it exactly

Two of our children were deathly ill when they were toddlers, in ICU. From that experience I learned that a lot of Western Medicine was a "best guess" scenario. And of course we all have stories of going to doctors or specialists that look at us and shrug their shoulders when we are looking for answers.

I'm prone to developing cancerous colon polyps. My specialist told me a few years back that I should take an aspirin a day and 1000mg of Tumeric daily.

So I've done this religiously for the past 3 years. At my check up last fall he found one very small polyp compared to 6 when I started this.

Coincidence? Is it the aspirin? The turmeric? Or both? Don't know but I'll keep doing both.

I'm also am prone to kidney stones. My urologist told me to drink an 8 ounce glass of OJ in the morning and evening. I usually had attack every two years like clockwork...its now been 3 years.

Turmeric is an ancient ayurvedic remedy.

I don't use pharmaceuticals because I consider them dangerous. Most of my health care comes from an ayurvedic clinic within walking distance of my home. I believe ayurvedic practitioners are far more knowledgeable than allopaths. For painful conditions like recovery from an injury, I visit the Chinese acupuncturist up the street.
