Do you have a pile of tapes and no VCR?

I have a storage unit next to my TV. I checked it out recently and found I have a bunch of old videos, but I don't have a VCR anymore. It reminds me of when I had a couple hundred old vinyl records and no record player. It's amazing the stuff we won't throw out, because it means something to us. Do you have a pile of tapes and no VCR?

OMG.... hits a nerve.... Back in the days of Napster, I was the most enthusiastic freeloader. Have 12 of those 7 inch DVD cases... maybe a thousand DVD's? Found a lady in our CCRC who listens, and offered them to her. No... and she hasn't spoken to me since.

What I do have is a few hundred 78 RPM records, and maybe another 100 LP's. Add to that, about 150 cassettes... all country western. The hoarder lives.... :(

Yes I have lots of reel to reel tapes and an old Ferrograph tape recorder also an ancient Sony reel to reel recorder harking back to the early 70s I think. Also gotten lots of small TDK tapes that slip into my small cd tape and radio so play them in this. Gr8 memories of family get togethers.

Ive just sold some Vinyl LPs to a record dealer and made a few bob on them. Ive got vinyl 45 rpms and no deck to play them on and thinking about buying a small deck to accomodate them.

We have three VCR's, and I know that at least two of them work. I haven't tried the third one in a long time. We still have some movies and TV shows too. They are rarely watched, but we're in no hurry to toss them. We also have a few blank tapes, and these are totally useless since TV broadcasts were changed to digital.

My wife still has a collection of music cassettes that she doesn't listen to any more and we have a bunch of records. We've been going through the records lately and that's kind of fun. Some go back to the 50's.

No, but I did have a bunch of 8-track & cassette music tapes. A friend found a combo player of both, brought it over one day, about three years ago. Turn's out they were all dried up, and just destroyed themselves in the player.........so it all went in the dumpster.

I bought a big "shoulder mount" video camera, decades ago, to film the kids as they were growing up, etc. I had dozens of tapes, which I eventually converted over to DVD's, as the DVD's will last a lot longer. I still film some of the family gatherings...albeit, with a much smaller camcorder. At some point, the kids will have a fairly large library of our lives....should they want to review these discs.

I have shoe- boxes full of videos...loads of things I've recorded as well as bought videos. I have one VCR, plus an old analogue tv which I only keep because it plays videos too.
There must be a demand for VCRs because you can buy re-conditioned ones, just as record players are now available again.

Hey, vinyl records have come back into style, big time! I'm glad I kept my turntable, which works fine. Keep all that stuff if possible. Its day will come again.

Yes, there is a market at the moment for vinyl here in England but I reckon it will die out in time but nice to see a come-back. What goes around comes around. I dont miss all the crackles and pops on vinyl records and recall trying to do a tape recording of some and ruined by a needle stuck in a groove:cautious:(n)

Hey, if you want to pick up a VCR player go to your local charity shop. I have seen many over the years. I still have some VCRs but no player.
