Do you hear the real thing, @Shero, or do you listen to the youtube version? I lived right on the Massachusetts coast for years, a few feet away from the ocean, and loved going to sleep with the waves coming in. Best sound for me, the Ocean.
I grew up in small town or just away from everything and different country. One reason I like nature.Depends on the small town; some don't take kindly to newcomers (i.e., anybody who's lived there less than 20 years).
i don't really have anyone i can count on for anything either. so i totally get where your coming from there.Don't know who's post you're addressing but security would be the last thing I'd ever be concerned about.
I personally live in a small town and I don't know ANYONE! There is not one person I can count on for anything.
Who's post mentioned security?
Beautiful, wish I could visitWe are very fortunate to live within walking distance of White Rock Lake in Dallas. Aside from home, walking by the lake is where my happy place is. That is probably my favorite bench in the pic, with a view of Downtown Dallas ahead.

Thank you so much,Chris21E, Thank you for sharing, and I'm so sorry. I watched my mother in this same situation, so I know I have to enjoy it while it lasts. And share anytime. That's what this forum is for
Diminishing returns and not out if options spell check is horrible second language personI find myself between two bad bookends, just wanted a break from it all, find myself stuck, by the lack of options and the challenges of being in a new decade of my life, harder than I expected.
Looking as though just dealing with the here and now is all I can do. Not yet art in stone. I'm Dealing with demolishing returns as I get older.
Such as can still walk, think, reason, drive make silly jokes, still be aware .
Thank you for letting me share

Rocks....Thank youThe Senior Forums
Yes, my suite had a fireplace, a balcony over looking the city, will never forget...What a beautiful hotel!
It is the realizing that one is a lot more vulnerable then before, difficult to put into words...We understandI relate to this. I'm in California also. Never been to Yosemite or Lake Tahoe. Kind of pathetic. I'm from Santa Cruz originally but haven't seen the ocean in many years. I too worry about travel alone. Plus I have the cats. I'd love to have a place to get away to. There are places close by me but again, I often worry about being alone and out and about.
Just so wonderful... Thank youI tend to seek out water: streams, rivers. There is a stream about 35 miles from here (I'm in the high desert) and I go there to sit on the rocks, which are ALIVE to me, and listen to the babbling of the water. It renews me.
My home is also a sanctuary for me. The ambiance is soft and peaceful.
So trueAt home spending the day in my daughters old bedroom which I have turned into a she cave. I have everything in that room to make me happy and content.
In the summer I love to be in my garden early in the morning or just before dusk providing the neighbors and the bugs don't get to me.
On occasion we have been invited to travel with my daughter. The best times are spent sitting by a quiet stream listening to the water and birds.
Yes I do! I wake up every morning and go to sleep each night with this sound
