Do You Have Peripheral Neuropathy?

Sorry---That's Peripheral Neuropathy.

If you do. What do you do to find some measure of comfort, sitting, walking, laying down, sleeping?

i dont have peripheral neurophy but i do have peripheral artery disease----i do hav e trouble walking my legs get to hurting and i have to stop now and then

I take 1200-1800 mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid supplement . I get the most relief from that, no matter what I am [doing]. There is also a product called Nerve Renue ...but it is pricey by comparison . It contains ALA + vitamins.

I take Gabapentin for mine. Depending on the severity of it, anywhere from 2-4 capsules a day. It seems to help a bit and it's a cheap prescription. I also take Alpha Lipoic Acid, Folic Acid and B Complex on the neurologist's advice.

The neurologist tried to pitch some "medical food" stuff that he swears by, but it would cost more than $300 per month and, of course, my pharmacy policy won't cover it.

I have Gabapentin...but find I get more relief from ALA...plus I avoid the 'chemical' based med, when ever i can......not advising...just personal choice.

I'd just like to know *why* I have neuropathy. I'm not diabetic. I've had all the nerve conduction studies and small cell biopsies, but the most they can come up with is that my small nerves are slightly "depressed" (well, I'd be depressed, too, if I had to live in my feet...LOL). But they can't say what is causing the neuropathy.

I live with it; it doesn't control my life. My grandma always used to say "offer your suffering up to Jesus". If I have to put up with this for another 20-30 years, I'm expecting something *pretty impressive* in the afterlife, I'm telling you.....It's hard to sleep at night with some invisible imp at the foot of my bed stabbing my feet with live electrical wires, or so it seems...

Sounds horrible. Good on you for laughing about it. Sorry you have to deal with it.

That sounds very painful jujube. I’m sorry you are suffering so. :(

Thank you, Keesha and Shali (glad I have you Uppity Wimmin in my corner). As I said, I live with it. So many people have REAL problems.....I feel ashamed of myself for whining about something that really doesn't affect my life that much.

Now, can I whine a bit about that &^@*!&% orthopedic boot on my right leg that the ortho said I have to wear ANOTHER &%#!*#& MONTH? *THAT* affects my life, but I have found a way to drive with it so at least I'm getting around again. I waddle like a duck and, although it's a nice basic black, it DOES NOT go with anything I have. Ooooh, time to go shopping....

Don’t feel ashamed. Whine away. It’s good to vent periodically.
I would ‘hate’ to have to wear big boot on my feet. I’d definitely be whining. Everyone here would be hearing all about it so let this be fair warning if it ever happens.

Sounds about the same as mine....Not advising , just sharing information...If I do take the ALA on a regular basis it makes a huge difference....jus'sayin'

I am not Diabetic either. My PN is caused by my Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

100 mg of Gabapentin at bed time helps me sleep.
