Do you have trouble using phones, hi tech things?

I have a cell phone. It's a flip one. It doesn't ring anymore-just vibrates. I don't know how to get the ring back. Do you have trouble using phones, hi tech things?
 

Fuzzy, what make and model is your phone, i.e., is it a T-Mobile Whatever 2 or what's it called? It's probably just a settings problem. Let me know what kind of phone and I'll try to help you out with the ringing thing.
 
My problem is texting. It's hard to press the right buttons. I hate it.

In the old days, people wrote letters or sent telegrams. Then the amazing invention, the telephone was invented and bingo- they could speak right to each other!

Later, we got answering machines in case someone couldn't come to the phone.

Now it's back to texting, everyone wants to text. We're going backward!
 
I usually know what needs to be done but I have trouble remembering where the setting is located or how it works in conjunction with another common setting.

It gets frustrating but it also gives me a powerful feeling when I finally figure it out!
 
They are made by geeks, for geeks. In my own mind I question whether I will learn it in my lifetime. In 15 years I will be 100.
 
Not really tech problems but arth & carpal tunnel prob>not being able to type well any more. I got a stylus to use with the iPad & also use one with the little tiny numbers & letters on the phone. Az prime has some really good deals on them.
I kind of grew up with tech stuff as my late XH was on the ground floor of mainframe computers & coding back in the 1970's
Got my first desktop & printer around 1994.

Well I am hard of hearing so on the plus side I love the texting feature so I don't have to keep saying pardon and annoying the person on the other end.

I don't think you need to go into the phone menu, not for activating the ringer anyway. You should have a little toggle switch on the side of the phone somewhere which turns the ringer off and on. Look for that and flip it the other way.

And to answer the question, no, I have no trouble with techie stuff. But the technology is moving at a faster and faster rate, and I can envision there will come a time where I won't be able to keep up as well as I do now.
 
I am pathetic when it comes to any of the newer electronic stuff. A penalty that I willingly pay by being surrounded by a couple of younger generations of family. I almost ashamed to say that no matter what pops up I immediately turn to one of my daughters or grandkids even before I look for the manual (which i usually can't find, either).

My younger wife (only in her early 80's) does far better than I because she will lock onto something and is determined to figure it out for herself while I settle for whining for help. As I said - -pretty pathetic.
 
I don't have a problems running my computers. My problems stems from web sites locking me out of control on my own computer. I can't click stop or anything else so I pull the power cable or the battery!
 
My phone is Consumer Cellular's ALCATEL GO FLIP. I can't find anything for "Sounds", either in the phone's menu nor in the online full manual. It does irritate me that I've become so inept. I was one of the first of my friends to get a computer. It came with Windows 95-YES THERE WAS A Windows 95. Back in those days, if you wanted to add a printer, it took all weekend. Now, I can't figure out a phone.
 
For the most part..no. If I ever do come across something that I don't know how to do I'll either ask my son or my nephew who is a computer expert by trade. OR there is always "YouTube University".
 
"YouTubeUniversity" - love that expression! Speaking of manuals, they are hardly ever provided with the products any more! I hate that! I went to B & N and got very readable manuals a few times.
 
I certainly do. I have a Tracfone for emergencies while traveling,a Kindle for reading and listening to audio books and a desk top computer. I know only the basics on them.

My daughter is the computer wiz and I have an ongoing list of questions and problems that she takes care of when she visits. If it is a real emergency she takes over my computer and straightens out the mess. It is so nice to sit in front of my computer and watch her work the little arrow without me doing a thing.
