Do You Hold the Same Likes and Dislikes You Had When You Were Young?

Do you pretty much like and dislike the same things you did when you were young, say in your 20s? Simple things like the same types of people, the same colors in your home surroundings, the same type of clothing, etc?

After all these years, I can say that my tastes and likes/dislikes haven't changed. I never liked really bright colors in my clothes or home furnishings, like reds or oranges, never liked loud pushy people, never liked large crowds or big parties, always liked animals and the outdoors, etc.

How about you, the same....or have you changed as you've gotten older?

I'd agree. Neither my tastes nor my values have made any real changes over the years. I do like sour foods more than I did when I was young, but that is likely because of changes in my sense of taste. My reading has changed a bit since I read very little fiction at this time. I don't eat out much; I prefer preparing food at home.

Me also. I still have the same tastes and preferences.

... my tastes have changed and evolved over the years with lots of things. Particularly with home decor... and my taste in books, and TV programmes for example. In my 20's I read a lot of fiction literature, whearas now it has to be factual or I'm not interested.. My food tastes have changed a lot due to world travel..

Some things have remained similar but more has changed than not...

I wanted everything new and modern when I was first married. I could have had all my Grandmothers possessions because she had passed away about a year before and my Grandpa was moving in with my Mom and Dad. I could have had it all but I did my own thing. Today I only have a few things my Mom kept. Now my home is eclectic and I cherish all that my Mom left me but every once in awhile I think of all those heirlooms and memories that I let slip through my fingers. Eating habits have changed. Not keen on really sweet desserts now. I don't enjoy shopping the way I did back then either. I never read when I was young but I'm making up for it now. My basic values haven't changed along with my love of animals and gardening.

I would add that I'm a lot more understanding of people who I tend to disagree with. The older I get the more I realize I don't know.

Yes, me too; very much this.

I do have a shorter fuse about some other things, though. I do an awful lot of cussing while driving. I have much less tolerance for people who are selfish and/or inconsiderate. (like, zero)

I used to enjoy wine with dinner and an occasional beer late in the evening or on a hot day, but I don't drink alcohol at all anymore. I was an overly-organized clean-freak. Now the only really clean room in my house is the bathroom. Aside from when I change the linens, the only time I make my bed is when the grandkids come over, and that's just so I can put a bunch of throw pillows across it so they can use it as a comfy place to read or write; like a big ol' couch. I used to love to drive. Not so now (refer to above).

Lots of changes, mostly minor.

Ditto.

My tolerance of time-wasters, bludgers, people being less than truthful and being fobbed-off when I know I am right, has greatly diminished

I pretty much have the same likes and dislikes I have always had, although some things have changed. My preferences in certain food has changed to some degree . I still like the same types of entertainment as before. I do have more of an attitude towards certain people in my
life that in the past I would let things that they did just slide. Now however I don't take any crap anymore. I speak up where I didn't before. The only times before when I would argue with someone was in defence of my loved ones, but now I even argue if it's against me. Oh and I never liked ice cream until now !

When I was a child the only vegetables I would eat besides salad components were peas and corn (is corn a veg or a grain?).

Thank goodness I grew up because I grew to love them all- even Brussels sprouts.

I've noticed a few changes over the years.

These days I prefer the simple comfort foods that I grew up with instead of elaborate restaurant meals.

I prefer to be home and I like my home to be a little bit frumpy and comfortable not buttoned up and stylish.

I prefer to spend my time with one or two close friends much more than a room full of casual acquaintances.

Now that I can finally afford a few of the things that I craved when I was young I realize how foolish it would be to actually buy them.

These days I enjoy my own company and value my time alone.

I used to dress up more when I was younger. Not really dressed up but dressed more fashionably back then. Now I like to wear just comfortable clothes unless I am going to a wedding or out to dinner; then I will dress a little better like a dress sometimes or a nice outfit. I never liked loud people either; they turn my stomach. I am and have always been on the quiet side until I get to know someone well and then I talk more. Still I talk less than I used to and end up being a listener. I don't like crowds at all now but when I was younger I liked going to concerts that were quite crowded. The last concert I saw was in 2005 and I did enjoy it very much as it was Eric Clapton, one of my favorite musicians.
