Do you keep your doors locked day and night? Home, Vehicle.

I do for the most part unless I'm in and out of the house during the day, I also always keep my garage door closed. When I'm in the barn or working around my property the house is locked and I keep myself armed, my house is isolated and no way am I going to let some thug make me a victim.

We've been "locking"' for as long as I can remember. If the car/truck is being used, I always get the "beep" before I walk away. Crime is almost non existent in our area, but it's a good habit for when we go to the city. During the day, when we're in/out of the house, we keep the front door unlocked.

I don't lock either my car or my door. The reason is......... It's a long story, but I found myself on the kitchen floor, unable to get up. I called 911. They were outside and were looking for a lock box. I was on the phone and telling the operator the door was open. I could hear the ambulance radio, "he says the door is unlocked", but nobody was paying attention. They kept looking for a lock box. Finally ,they tried the door.
I'm still not sure what a lockbox is, but I don't have one. If the door was locked, I'd still be on the damn floor.
And the other reason is I live in the sticks. You'd need a car to find me, and without GPS, I'm really hard to notice. Deer aren't that great at hotwiring a car.

My car normally has Walk Away Auto Lock enabled, so it is pretty much always locked. I can just grab a door or rear hatch handle and the car can sense that I'm there and automatically unlock. I usually have the driver's door handle set to only auto-unlock just the driver's door rather than all doors and the fuel filling door.

There are lots of lock/unlock options that can be configured including if and when to beep or flash lights or both on any locking/unlocking action. Whether to lock/unlock when shifted into/out of Park or when the ignition is turned on/off, etc.

That's a 6 year old car now, so I imagine newer models offer even more options. I'd guess most people just leave everything at manufacturer defaults and may not even realize what capabilities exist like remotely rolling down the car windows and such.

A friend of mine always locks the doors in her apartment which is on the 1st floor. One day when she arrived home, she unlocked the fly screen door then the front door and walked into complete destruction. The thieves must have been watching when she left then came up the stairs and
went through the manhole outside her front door. Most of her jewellery had gone and her late mother's jewellery and various electrical items. She said it's the most horrible feeling walking into that scene. Police came but they never found the culprits.
