Do you like food/enjoy eating?

For me the question should be "Do you like ANYTHING OTHER THAN food/enjoy ANYTHING OTHER THAN eating?

To which my answer would have to be "Not really". 😛

my husband is one. He's never enjoyed food anyway all his life, and he went from being a meat eater to a pescatarian and then ultimately to a vegan diet... .. but now he's lost his sense of taste and smell food is just a means' to survive to him, and often he doesn't eat at all just relying on a protein drink

I learned a new word! Pescatarian! Thanks @hollydolly

Yes. Fortunately, I have a good metabolism which keeps my body at an average weight. Also, my body tells me when it's had enough. At restaurants, I always end up going home with a box containing the next day's lunch.

I hope your take homes don`t include chicken, eggs, rice, potatoes or mushrooms! My husband`s cousin posted a PSA yesterday stating that any of these things, reheated, can make you ill! I had heard before to not reheat chicken, but not any of those other foods.

I'm pretty sure that as long as you reheat poultry to a minimum of 160°, any bacteria will be killed. If not, how could makers of pre-prepared foods containing chicken be sold to the public? Never heard that you can't reheat eggs, rice, potatoes or mushrooms either. There are plenty of canned and frozen foods in the stores which have all those ingredients.

rice and poultry is particularly dangerous if kept at room temperature for a long period before being refrigerated ( not heard of mushrooms being dangerous, my husband reheats mushrooms all the time, never ill)

Depends on several things...first of all, be sure any meat is cooked thoroughly...all the way through. Second, don't leave food at room temps for a period of time. Refrigerate or freeze them when they are slightly warm- before reaching room temps if you can. Frozen food companies have done extensive testing on this issue. Notice on any microwave package it will say "cook thoroughly".

Actually, raw foods are real "sicky" culprits, especially like lettuce & spinach. I wash all raw vegetables in very hot water (even if it's packaged and says its been washed) - then, leave it sit for a minute or two, rinse to refresh with cold water before eating.

Yes. Cooking thoroughly means 160° internal temp. As for leaving it out, I think of people taking fried chicken on a picnic. Cooked in the morning or previous evening, refrigerated then put in a container next morning and not eaten for several hours. Happens quite a lot without anyone getting sick. Obviously you wouldn't want to let it sit at room temp overnight.

True. I've gotten sick eating pre-packaged salad before.

That's interesting. I've never heard that before. I very seldom eat all my food from restaurants and pretty much always ask for a to-go box so I can take it home and have it for lunch the next day. My to-go stuff seldom includes rice or potatoes because I don't eat much in the way of carbs, but I've brought home pretty much everything else over time. Never had an issue.

Most of my life it was just something I needed to do.
After my quadruple bypass I started reading labels, that scared me. I learned to cook, from scratch not a chef by any means. Now I actually get cravings for certain foods that I cook and enjoy eating.
So to sum up, no did not care what I ate but now I do.

I cook a really good meal once a week, most of the time I just eat so I don’t get sick. I do like junk food tho, but I’m careful how much I eat....Lol

I've heard of rice, and to make sure re-heated chicken is either very hot or very cold, but not the others.

160° minimal internal temperature for all poultry. Probably beef and pork, too.

If you eat leftovers, probably a good idea to invest a few bucks in a meat thermometer.

What! Have I been doing it all wrong? I'll have to change my habits. No wonder I've been ill. But beware, beware our drinking water. More contamination than we knew. That's going to be a problem in the future, the near future perhaps.

After finding some chicken (I think it was chicken) oven roasted looking slippery and green, picked up and use meat thermometer. My main rule is after 5 days after being cooked it gets tossed. A little surprised about the rice and others, love re fried rice with chicken etc. Have eaten that for decades. However will check it out.
The rice is cooked by me, not takeout.

I never heard of reheated rice making people sick, but learned a lot through an Internet search. Bottom line is that cooked rice should be handled similarly to meat. Refrigerate leftovers promptly and reheat thoroughly. Thanks for the tip!

No leftover food ever lasts five days with me... ;)

I get one roasted chicken per week and use 1/4 of it in my dinner each night for 4 nights.

Never had a problem yet.

I guess that might come across as a weird question, but I know people for whom eating is just a necessary function with no particular enjoyment attached to it. They eat to live, rather than living to eat. While I eat to live too, I sure LOVE to eat!

I am SUCH a foodie!!! I really enjoy eating, I enjoy food of all kinds and ethnicities, I'm never afraid to try new foods and new tastes, there is very little I don't like or won't eat. I look forward to mealtimes, whether it's just a simple meal at home or choosing which restaurant to go to.

I really enjoy home cooked food, especially when we go to someone else's house to eat....I get such a kick out of seeing and tasting the way others prepare the same food items I do, but in different ways.

Because I enjoy eating so much, I have to be very mindful about what I eat and when because since menopause, the days of eating as much and whatever I like are over. I take food to work with me every day, and it's very simple, low/no carb meals and snacks....poached chicken and a salad, broiled fish and steamed veggies, almonds, string cheese, carrot sticks, greek yogurt etc. I might have a fried egg or half an avocado for breakfast.

When Ron or I make dinner it's usually some kind of meat and veggie side, though I also fix a carbohydrate for Ron...baked potato, brown rice, pasta, because he has NO problems with his metabolism and burns through food at a really fast rate.

What about you? Do you like food?
I love to eat. I love the way something really good makes me feel when it hits my mouth. If only I could get that much enjoyment from people. ~RME~

If I didn't hafta worry about being a billion pounds I'd eat all day long. I enjoy trying some new foods.
