Do you like the person you see in the mirror?

Well I think the the inside guy is pretty much OK.......but boy on the outside he could sure use some 'spruce'in-up.....

Wow! I’m genuinely surprised. Whenever I think of you I always think you’re exceptionally beautiful from the inside out.
And not said as a ‘suck up.’ I’m honestly surprised.

Awww, you sweet thing you! Sometimes we have "off" days....it's been a cold winter. Hey, I feel better now! :love_heart:

I have at least 10 huge mirrors in my house...all sliding closet doors are mirrored, plus huge ones in the bathrooms above the vanities....also one above my fireplace and one in the hallway.

The hallway one I look the best in for some reason.

I wrote a poem to it...

Mirror Mirror in the hall

You are the BEST Mirror of all. :)

I look 10 years younger in that mirror.

Louise Hay is great for positive self affirmations and here are some other great teachers I found helpful

Echart Tolle
Byron Katie .... The Work
Marianne Williamson .... A course in Miracles
Wayne Dyer .... anything by him
Depak Chopra

Thanks Keesha. I am familiar with all of them except Byron Katie, who I'll have to google. Didn't Marianne Williamson just throw her hat in the ring for the presidency run?

OK, I just looked and I've heard of Byron Katie before as I recognized her photo. I made a note to watch one of her Youtube meditations and see what I think of it.

Youre welcome Linda. Byron Katie’s work is simplistic and brilliant and you are right;Marianne Williamson is running for presidency.

I don't like the wrinkles and my cheeks are a bit sunk in from lack of a few molars. I have red areas on my forehead form having a few precancerous cells removed. I guess it really doesn't bother me all that much because I never resorted to troweled on makeup to cover the mess. I am who I am,inside and out.

No Linda. The person you see in mirrors outside your home is not the same friend who smiles at you from your own bathroom mirror.

Those mirrors are specially designed to rob you of your confidence and drive you to the nearest coffee shop for some comfort food.
It is definitely a conspiracy to drum up more business.

You can only negate their power by sticking out your tongue and blowing a very long, loud raspberry.
Then toss your hair and swing your hips defiantly as you head for the nearest park to feed the birds and squirrels.

Your mirror friend will laugh with you about this when you return home.

Depends on the magnification. :magnify: Seriously though, I like the person in the mirror, but don't have chats with her. :D I'm okay with how I look now that I'm old, I knew at 20 that I wasn't going to stay looking that way in my senior years, so all is good with the wrinkles, etc. I'm just grateful to have my sight to see myself in the mirror and happy to be old instead of the alternative. I also look more like my mother did now that I'm in my 60s, and I loved my mom.

Thanks Warrigal, you are a sweetheart!

If I could just combine the knowledge and the tiny bit of wisdom I've picked up just by living the years I have, with being even twenty years younger at the same time, that would be the person I would like to see in the mirror. But that's not how life works.

When I look in the mirror I see a 72 year old guy. I could get all romanticized, and say there, in the mirror, is 72 years of hopes and dreams, etc., etc. But the fact is a 72 year old guy is steering back at me. Like raddishrose, meh.

So is that a yes or a no. :eek:nthego:

Well, it’s neither, but yes, I am satisfied for the most part. There was a time or two that I didn’t quite handle a situation as well as I should or could have and on those days, I just didn’t look into the mirror.

Y’know, that ol’ guy with the full side profile close up in the tiny changing room at Walmart could lose a pound or twenty….. no matter how much he flexes

His hair is silver,so not being grey is a plus,he's remained slim,so well done for that,he's retained the musculature of his service years,so ok there...but he really must shave more often.
His one main 'yuk!' is,he keeps growing a beard, keeps it for a few months, then off it comes. Oh-plus he's invariably a scruffy git. He just doesn't give a monkey's about 'style'. TUT!

This thread reminds me of a taproom scene...
