Do you like your middle name?

My middle name is a somewhat common name with one letter left out. It's pronounced differently than the common name.

It's been a pain in the a$$ my whole life, as people think it's a misprint and take it upon themselves to "correct" it.

When I first got a passport in my teens I needed a certified copy of my birth certificate. So down to the bureau I went to get one and darned if my middle name hadn't been "corrected" on the original copy on file. It was corrected in pencil and dated three years ago, but there was no indication who had done it.

My mom and I had to swear an affidavit before a judge to get it changed back.

My high school diploma had the incorrect spelling. It wasn't worth while changing it.

I have the same middle name as my father, both of my brothers, and my son. It goes well with my first name which was very unusual at the time, slightly more popular these days. The diminutive of my first name sounds like a boy's name and my middle name could go either way, all through school I went by that short "boy's name," which caused some confusion, but made me able to live in a boys rooming house at one time because the landlord only knew me by name and never saw me.

Della is my grandmother's name.

My mother said she was torn between her father’s first name Winfield and the one ‘they’ gave me - as if he’d have an opinion about that. I think Winfield would have sounded even more bankish than the one I got which no one has ever called me.

My middle name is my dad's first name.

Proud of it.

My youngest was named after him.

After a time, the more he found out about his grandpa, he told me how proud he was of the name.
My 1st grandchild, my son's son, was named after me. Felt totally awesome!

My 1st nephew gave his 1st daughter a feminine version of my name; Frankie. That felt pretty awesome, too. And her 2nd name is Lee, so it's Frankie Lee, which, to me, sounds as adorable as she is. Plus she was a little cowgirl, so it suited her.
(today, she's a rancher and still has horses)

I do dislike my first name and I always meant to change it. I didn't because I thought my mother would feel bad. Come to find out my father chose my name. He committed suicide when I was young and I could have renamed myself. My family is very weird. I had a cousin who literally had the exact name as me. She was a few years younger, but I mean...who does that. Also there are none less than 3 females named after my father and 3 after myself. We sound like we come from Appalachian background...but we dont. We are Swedish ancestors and are from from the upper midwest. To answer the original question... I would prefer my middle name which sounds so ds.ure.
