I don't know if Dolly is your real name, but I have a cousin that we call Dolly. Her real name is DeEtta, but she didn't like it, so she asked everyone to call her Dolly. We have called her that since the late 50's.

No neither Holly Nor Dolly is my real name ( I've never heard of the name DeEtta, that's unusual)

This thread is turning out quite entertaining and educational.
Niw I know you’re not a Holly or a Dolly or a DeEtta. ::lol: cute

Sounds more like a name from "Harry Potter." Now there's some cool names and places in those stories. Anyone here a HP fan?
Hi,I'm a HP fan, read all the books, saw all the movies, still watch whenever they air on cable TV
I agree with you about some of the names,a couple favorites are:
Prof Severus Snape, Prof Minvera McGongall,Luna Lovegood,Neville Longbottom,Sirius Black

You 'avin' a giraffe,Keesha?

With a name like 'Lord Randolph Longfellow Victorium Munro III',you ask if I LIKE it?!?!?

Oh,I didn't get bashed up at school alla time or NUFFINK,cozza my silly name!
[the few who DID deign to speak to me, called me 'snotty' because I took so many blows]

I know...[sniff]...sad,innit...[honk]....but,I try t'smile, try t'be bwave,pwetend it doesn't bother me....[sniff]

....and JUST as I'm getting over it-you bwing it up again.....[HONK]

I've never encountered a name that I disliked. People yes, but a name is just a name. I learned early on that names don't make people attractive. Rather, it's the other way around - the person makes the name attractive (or not).

(And yes, my name is Thomas but I gladly answer to anything that's used in kindness.)

I like my real name but didn’t when I was younger. It wasn’t a popular name and now it’s still an unpopular name in Canada but that’s why I now like it.

Do you like your REAL name?

Does it reflect who you are and if you could change it, what would you change it to and why?

Well, as it started out, my older sister and her cronies helped me in forming an opinion in regard to my name.
I became quite contrary, never new how my garden grew, but, later on became inquisitive about all those pretty maids…. in a row, no less

Then, in my early teens, the name game kept my opinion suppressed…’Gary Gary mo berry, bonana fana fo fairy’..etched into my skull'

Until it was chuck’s turn

Not too long ago, I got rather entrenched in a political thread on another site.
One opposed to my opinion, after several heated posts, decided to change my name to Gary O’Blivion
Got a hearty laugh over that one.

Anyway, I’m okay with what I was dubbed at birth

Beats Chuck

Can't see how it describes who I am

Change it?

Since Joe Montana has been spoken for, maybe Buck Naked, or Rod Pierce.....or maybe Clint

I never liked my name - I always thought it was too ordinary. However, my surname was very uncommon when I lived in Hampshire. It comes from the Scottish borders and is more common throughout Scotland. At least I don't have to spell it for people here. Now my middle name is Alexander, and I discovered that just about every other male in this area has that somewhere in their name, though they're usually called 'Sandy' or occasionally, "Alex".

Oh I haven't heard anyone do that since I was a child...:D

We used to chant..
Gary Farry,
Nicka narry,
Bow Barry... that's the way you spell Gary...

I’ve always hated my real name and use it as little as possible, abbreviating, altering the spelling or using my surname whenever I can

Me too Wren, fortunately my name can be abbreviated but I still dislike it, and I do... It's not that my name is an ugly name or an uncommon name to most people, it's just a name that I've hated since I was a tiny tot...
