Do You Make Up Your Bed Everyday?

When I was growing up, I HAD to make up my bed first thing every morning. My mother was a nurse and I had to learn "hospital corners" too. To this day, it is standard procedure. Even my husband has learned to make up the bed if he gets up after me! I cannot imagine getting in an unmade bed at night. My grown children on the other hand don't have my obsessive behavior! And I thought I taught them well? LOL

My husband and I are restless sleepers. He is disabled and I am under-medicated...add two dogs maybe 160lbs total and the odd cat. I have a lovely comfy sleeping bag in my daughter's room. I visit hubby and the dogs visit everyone. The best part is that everyone sleeps soundly:D

Absolutely, hospital corners and all. I feel about leaving the bed unmade the same as I feel about having clean underwear. What if I had to leave the house in a hurry and something happened to me and someone had to go into my bedroom and saw the bed unmade? I'd die all over again. I also make sure there are clean sheets on the bed before we go on vacation.

I make the bed in the morning, but it's just straightening the top sheet, putting the pillows in place and pulling up the comforter. I do make hospital corners when I change my sheets, but not on a daily basis. My husband watches TV in bed and usually snacks on things there, plus we have the dog and cat that hang out on the bed all day. So my main concern in securing the top comforter, so the sheets and pillows don't get dirty.

Yes!

It's not a big deal though, I sleep in a twin bed and only have a fitted twin sheet with a matching double bed comforter. In the morning I just toss the comforter like a fisherman casting a net and the bed is made. I'm not good at rotating the bedclothes though. I just strip the bed and toss the whole shebang into the wash, then put them back on the bed as soon as they are dry. The result is that I have a nice looking bed for a year or two and a ratty looking bed for a year or two. Right now I'm in the ratty phase, I should ask Santa for a new comforter!

I stay in hotels 3 to 4 nights/week. And, I always make my bed each morning... except the morning I check out. Once I check out, the staff will strip the bed anyway. I make the bed up and take the time to have everything "tight and taunt". I will leave a pillow in a specific position or an unnoticed fold in a sheet. That way I can tell if the maid service is content with my work... or if they remake it. Depending on the hotel facility, some leave my work alone. Others always seem to remake it themselves. I don't care either way. I'm just not going to leave a messy, unmade bed behind "expecting" someone else to make it.

On the same note, every morning all my toiletries... everything is put away back in my luggage. I don't want anyone walking in the room to see that I have left food, clothing, toiletries left laying out. In the back of my mind, I've always thought about the "what if". If due to injury or worse I don't return to the hotel, I don't want family or someone having to pick up everything. All will be easily picked up or stored without additional work on anyone else's part.

Oh! When I'm home, my wife sleeps in much later that I. I'm always up before 5 a.m., usually out on the golf course before she gets up. So, she makes the bed when she finally arises. Laundry is done on weekends since she relies on me to make the bed back up. We have a heavy mattress and fitted sheets. It's work and she leave the remake to me. I don't mind at all!!! It's simply a teamwork situation.

If I don't make the bed every day I get tangled up in the blankets and covers. It's a practical matter. As far as changing the sheets...I usually forget to do it until they begin to get ripe.

I prefer to let the bed air out for a while before it is made. This time of year it only has a sheet on it, no blanket.
