Do you, or your neighbors shoot off fireworks for the 4TH, and other holidays?

Fire works are a staple on the 4th of July in the USA. And I guess Guy Fawkes Day in the UK(?), and whenever for the Aussies.

no, not for the Aussies.

Guy Fawkes day years ago used to be a thing here but after far too many accidents, fireworks were made illegal except for professionals with a licence and most younger people here probably don't even know of Guy Fawkes day, it isnt a day when licenced displays happen either - like they do, for example, on New years eve.

The neighborhood enjoys their own shows. I see and hear them from one particular window. Not the immediate block, but several blocks away. I'm astounded as to what goes off, mimicking the show I have just seen on TV, the Macy one.

THE LOCAL CITY PARK, ONE OF MANY, SITS JUST AROUND THE CORNER FROM ME, MAYBE 200YDS AWAY, AND ON THE 4TH
ESPICIALLY SOME LOCALS GATHER OVER THERE AND SHOOT OFF BUNCHES OF STUFF, SADLY SOME OF IT IS ROCKETS WHICH SCARE ME, CUZ THEY DON'T KNOW/CARE WHERE THEY GO.....

I enjoy most of the fireworks in my area ….. I know it’s coming, so will get comfortable on my top floor patio, and watch the show.
… couldn’t do that in the past with my dog. It wasn’t good for him.

Some creative people across the way put music to the fireworks. with large boom boxes in their parking lot .. and it is really entertaining. I like it.
I watch until I get tired, then go inside ..🥱

It's a pretty dry and flammable area here to be setting off fireworks, but there is usually a fireworks display at on the high school ball field. A few people get drunk and fire their AR rifles, but they do that now and then anyway. It’s OK to get drunk, but firing an AR-15 etc. in the air is not a good idea.
Firing an AR, or any firearm into the air is a bad idea. Whatever goes up, usually comes down. I had a neighbor that would go out the back door and fire his 12 gauge shotgun into the air on New Year’s Eve. After the second year, I reminded him that he may want to rethink it. On the third year, he did the same thing, only this time he didn’t step out from the door far enough and he blew the spouting and eave off his roof in that area where he was standing. He told me he was a bit tipsy when he fired the rifle. After that, he didn’t do it again.

We used to enjoy watching fireworks on the beach when we lived in a beach town.
My father's birthday was July 4th, we always celebrated with fireworks. That ended with WW2.

A village not too far from here has a Canada Day fireworks display. They send up a series of professional-type rockets that make bright, spectacular multi-hued bursts way up. They launch these from a barge, over the local lake, to eliminate the possibility of starting a forest fire.

Show usually starts at about 9:30pm or so. Because these are quality fireworks, expensive and paid for by the village council's tax levies, the show lasts only about a half hour.

What do you think of your neighbors, who do?
And the reaction from pets to fireworks?

Never. No interest at all in lighting any fuses. I've enjoyed watching public displays like at the mall in DC or over the bay near San Francisco. But I never go near where other people are lighting off their own. I don't trust their judgement and neither my dog nor I need the aggravation.
