Do you remember a sad song that brought tears?

For me the saddest song was To Daddy, written by Dolly Pardon and recorded later by Emmylou Harris.
As a wife and mother that brought tears to my eyes.
I don't usually listen to dreary music, I much prefer upbeat cheerful or humours lyrics but that song stuck in my mind.
Can you remember another very sad song?

This song has always been a tearjerker, but then my father insisted it be played at my mother's funeral. I can't hear more than one note before bursting into tears. I can usually avoid it (e.g., I posted this link very quickly, before the music started), but I can't always avoid it. I heard it in the supermarket one time in Nevada and was just crying in the canned-goods aisle. .

I have a very clear memory of the first time I heard that song. It was early 60s and my dad took me on a drive in his new 1963 VW Bug. That song played on the radio. It makes me tear up to this day when I hear it, but not in a sad way.

I absolutely love anything Civil War related... and actually just returned (again!) from Gettysburg and Antietam. This song has hit me hard every single time I've heard it.

When my mother died suddenly at a young age, my brother then aged 17 played this on the day of her funeral...it still makes me cry

This was the first 45 I bought as a young girl. I heard the song on the radio and I was intrigued. I did not understand English at the time so I ask my mother to translate the song to me. I was very moved by it, so much so that I bought the record and listen to it many times.
