The Sunday paper used to be a tradition of reading it the first half of Sunday in most families. Today it is all but gone. I have not bought one in years and to see how skinny they are now days is sad.

No, haven't for quite a few years. I loved the Sunday Crossword, though.

When I was a child my father bought "the papers" every Sunday after church; our own city, The NY Times, The NY Daily News and the Hartford Courant.

Yes we do and sometimes my son stops by and reads as well. We have coffee together than go about our business for the day. We always got the daily paper as well but stopped that years ago. These days we get Thursday, and Sunday. Thursday has all the store coupons and often pays for the paper.

What aggravates me is at the end of many articles it says,If you want to read more on this story go to such and such.com.

I don't buy a newspaper any more, I read everything online, but on the occasion I do buy one or pick one up it can take a whole morning to read it, we still have very thick Sunday papers despite the internet. The hard copy versions have much better more informative news than the internet versions , even of the same paper!!

For example the online version of the Daily Mail bears no comparison to the Hard copy.. the former more of a showbiz reporter dotted with a few news stories.. the hard copy has almost nothing about ceelebrity antics at all, and concentrates on much more serious issues.

When I was young and broke it used to be fun to have other young and broke people come over and nurse our hangovers together, read the Sunday paper and enjoy a leisurely brunch.

That ship sailed many, many years ago.

These days I read the highlights on the newspaper's website.

I read the local paper on line and sometimes check out the Washington Post and others, also on line.

I don't read the paper but mama likes to relax and read the paper in the evenings so we subscribe to our local town paper as well as the big city paper 7 days a week.

You know the old saying......

We've been getting the daily newspaper delivered to our house for years now, my husband takes his time with his morning coffee and enjoys reading the news, I don't read it as often or as completely as he does.

I greatly miss it

It was a current Wards catalogue, sports magazine, gossip mag, and comic book all rolled into a huge bundle of enjoyment over two or three cups of coffee
Finishing it off with the crossword

Now?

That skinny rag?

Now that you mention it Gary, I'm feeling nostalgic about the papers, the smell of coffee and bacon, and yes back then-cigarettes. Newsprint doesn't even have that smell anymore. I too miss the crossword with my coffee and a poppy seed hard roll.

Especially on a rainy Sunday.

That's what rainy Sundays were for

I get advertising flyers that are larger / thicker than the Sunday paper is now days.

Indeed it used to be a Sunday morning indulgence , particularly in winter....but alas, no more.

Haven't received a paper in years. But I loved the Sunday paper with that coffee and maybe a cinnamon roll. Now the news is online and television. I miss that daily paper but will not start again.

I'm not a subscriber to our local paper, theBuffalo News but I do buy the Sunday paper to basically read about local stories. If I find something interesting,I usually cut it out and send to my brother who doesn't live here
The paper hasn't been locally owned in yrs,Warren Buffett owns it.In the national news section, the bylines are from NYTimes/Washington Post. Some of the articles I've already read since I buy NYT/USA Today 3 days/wk.I prefer having the paper in my hand instead of reading online Sue

Absolutely. I read the Washington Post every day, including Sundays. Wouldn't know what to do while I eat breakfast without it!

Yes! I have it delivered, read the paper every day, & anytime (rarely) that there is a missed delivery, it just puts a hole in my morning.
