for years read the daily local paper and USA today, they became smaller and smaller and had less news and more commentary and cost more and more and finally I dripped them both...in some ways I miss them in others not so much.....

Yes, I still get a daily one left on my driveway. I read it with my coffee each day. It also contains 3 crossword puzzles which I enjoy.
And the comics brighten my day.

Yes, my husband likes to read his daily paper with his morning coffee. I agree it is much more expensive each year, and seems to be no more than a newsletter lately. Here's our paper boy who delivers it each morning from our driveway.

I sill take the local rag but when it expires this year, that will be enough. My wife can no longer read it and I find little worth reading.

Now that's what I call a really good paper boy. Bet he's a really good companion, too

Yes he is John, a good companion and friend. He's getting up in years, but he still likes to go out and get the paper. If it's icy out, I get it, with his arthritis I don't want him to have any injuries.

Dogs are such blessings, particularly as we get older. Just today I watched an interview on the news where two doctors agreed that living with a dog is good therapy and lowers blood pressure as effectively as Beta Blocker pills. Since 1988 I have three dogs and am in fairly good health. Part of this is the pleasure of walking at least 30 minutes a day with my good Beagle companion.11a Pikey barking.jpg

I still take one, but I can't handle the font size any more so I subscribe to a digital copy, not an on-line edition but a scanned full copy of the news-stand version. I can make the font as big as I want!

My iPad provides all the news f need for free, and I don't have to open the door and let the cold air in!

Read all my news online - no recycling of old newspapers - Guardian, BBC, Toronto Globe & Mail, New York Times, anything I can find and all free (for a while).

I don't do TV anymore, so most of the news I hear is on here. I never was a newspaper reader. I know a gal that is now 94 I believe, and she has read the paper most of her life. She probably, knowing Alice, thinks it stinks compared to what it used to be. I think she just reads the local though, it may be better then our Oregonian News for the whole State;)

Your Beagle looks very sweet John! I can't agree with you more about pets being good for us physically and our mood. We take the dog out for walk in a large dog park that's very nice, he can be off leash, although now that he's older he walks along with us and doesn't run around much anymore. Right now I have a dog and a cat, wouldn't be without a furkid in my home. :love_heart:

We stopped the daily paper about 25 years ago. Our container for recyclables was always packed with old newspapers and neither of us was reading it. With 24 hours of news on radio and TV we had stopped getting the news anywhere else. Now, with the internet, we certainly don't need it. I haven't seen a Sunday paper lately, but when we cancelled, it looked like a disgraceful use of paper.

I used to, I stopped getting the paper or even picking up the Sunday paper about 4 years ago. I especially looked forward to the Sunday edition. Stopped for a variety of reasons, volume size being one as well, but, it just didn't provide anything much I hadn't already read online, and all the coupon inserts are pretty much useless for me; those coupons used to pay for the paper all by themselves, most now are just for junk.

I like getting daily paper! World & crime news fresher on TV, but like reading about local events, NY Times crossword, comics, sports, some ads. The ABQ Journal has tried to keep up & costs down, just combined some of the Sunday sections creatively. I was an English major in college& the paper has had some fine local writers. Could do without some of the syndicated hacks, though!

Mind are digital I just delete. There is though all the ads from local business stuff in mail box so you cant find the important mail.

A few people I know still take the paper because they like the actual physical sensation of a paper to read, and the old fashioned comfortable habit of newspaper and coffee/tea in the morning is hard to break.
