Do you talk to yourself?

I do at the moment. I hadn't realised I'd lost my voice until I answered the phone. T'was my sister and she said if I shout out Good Morning every day when I wake up, I would've known. ;)

I've lived by myself for a while now. I had three cats. But one by one, they went. When Fuzzybuddy passed, I was going to get another cat, or 2. But then, my health isn't that great. I'm 71. I can't be lugging 25 lb. bags of litter a round. I'm getting hard of hearing-the TV is super loud. Should I subject an animal to that? So I decided not to get a pet. And then I started to talk to my self-a lot. Do you talk to yourself?
Quite often. I think it's just something that happens when you live alone long enough.

Yeah. I like to hear a good man talk.

DH and I sit in our living room, he is reading I am watching TV. I think I am talking to him but it appears that I am talking to myself. I forget that when he is reading he hears nothing, a fire truck could stop next door with siren blaring and he wouldn't hear it. I remember many years ago telling him "please do not read while you are watching the kids, you gotta be able to hear them"!

I live alone with my dog but do talk to anyone who wants to listen ? - mobile phone users ; members on forums ; the dog? ; my immediate neighbours who share my 8 acre block? great fun chattin to the WW ladies during my shoppin day - they are always chattin me up!! but they are just after my money before I run out the store with the goods!!

Exactly!

Do you talk to yourself?

"Tim, I'm talking to you, please pay attention!"

"Why should I, Tim, you never listen to me when I talk to you, and you are always shouting at the telly?"

"You shout at the telly too, Tim."

"Yeh, but not as loud as you, Tim."

"I might nip out later for a pint, you can come if you want, Tim."

"OK, but remember, Tim, the drinks are on you." 😊

I've been doing it a lot more recently and ya know I reckon it's the healthiest thing I can do to maintain my sanity and also give me a deeper awareness of where I have been ; what I have done and how it's all lead to where I am now - Shreek!!!

Sure. Why wouldn't I? What's wrong with that?

It's when I talk to inanimate objects that I start to worry and think it's time to get out and have a real conversation with somebody. Open the danged door and leave the house.

I seldom talk to myself but I sing a lot of the old songs. Mostly 50s/60s country (Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams) and I love to hum the old intrumentals (Wheels, Never on Sunday, Raunchy, Ballad of Palladin).

It's a great way of keeping the memory sharp - there could be a research fellowship in this " does regular talking to oneself improve current memory and by how much " ? 25 volunteers required

Doesn't everybody talk to themselves at least sometimes? I know I do when creating or working on a craft project so I don't see anything wrong with it.
:giggle:
